Whilst Pirlo can be forgiven for making mistakes with tactics and starting line ups at the start of his coaching career, he needs to learn to react quicker in rectifying them. Whether it’s stubbornness in admission or not being able to spot it, time will tell.

Pirlo fucked up really bad today, for all the clear cut reasons everybody mentioned, and which were expected from the get go.

This was a win game btw, Roma is absolutely shit.

And the level of fuckup is not warranted from rookie coaches either. It steems from his boldness. He has to be humble enough to correct them ASAP, like the Cuadrado experiment.

This was unexpected, honestly. The reaction ingame to the mistakes wasn't good too. Time will tell, let's see.

Is this better or worse than a healthy loss?
Healthy loss is what Bayern got today (Not City, that was unwilling assfucking), we got the "phueh, he just got his license, but he almost got us there despite being drunk on vino" positive draw. You take it good grace and count your blessings, and hope it wont repeat again.

Good result considering the poor performance for ~70 mins.

Pirlo got the starting lineup and tactics all wrong, our defence looked shaky all game and our midfield two looked lost out there. We had more control once Arthur came on, and I liked that we came back twice to rescue the result, even when playing with 10 men. I liked that we kept playing for the win, even in the last few mins.

Very long way to go still but there’s still some good signs there. We will be ok. Just need to get our three starters back ASAP, and tighten up our defence. Don’t want to see Cuadrado on the left anymore.

Its a learning curve for Pirlo
There is some questioning selection heading into this game. Cuadrado at LWB, Kulusevski at RWB, Playing Morata while he just joined us, and our defensive set up in free kick for the 2nd Roma Goal

The game also can swing into different direction if referee use the same standard for Rabiot's handball and Pellegrini's handball as Pelegrini will get his 2nd when tackle Ramsey

Not enough time to experiment preseason so unfortunately pirlo will try certain things early on in the season. In this case it was detrimental. Result could have been worse.

Really looked poor when roma were on the counter attack...just left so many gaps.

It's the second game of the season with many changes and a new manager. The players were ran into the ground towards the end of last season and then only had a month off with basically no pre-season friendlys. As he said in his post-match press conference he has to make mistakes on the pitch in these games that he otherwise would have made during pre season.

A draw with 10 men away to Roma is a good result any year nevermind now.

In addition to a short preseason under a new manager and many new players is the fact that we face roma in round 2 and then we have napoli in round 3...not facing minor teams straight up to help the team gel doesn't help pirlo settle in quickly.

We gave the job to a rookie coach who has no idea what he’s doing. He even admitted he’s testing. He should try bonucci as RB next game. You never know.
