We can play a fairly competitive squad with the 3-5-2 and not have to rely on both MDS and Pellegrini who are the clear weak links in the squad. As questionable as Bernardeschi is, he's not been bad in recent games and played a large chunk of the last season as an LWB so I'd trust him over Pellegrini to give some dimension offensively too. Right flank needs to be covered defensively due to Insigne so MDS is not required to necessarily join the offense too much:
