it is strange yes but has Ferrara played a single match this season?

anyway here the selected players:

1 BUFFON
2 FERRARA
3 TACCHINARDI
4 MONTERO
7 PESSOTTO
8 EMERSON
9 IBRAHIMOVIC
10 DEL PIERO
12 CHIMENTI
15 BIRINDELLI
16 CAMORANESI
18 APPIAH
19 ZAMBROTTA
20 BLASI
21 THURAM
22 BONNEFOI
24 OLIVERA
25 ZALAYETA
27 ZEBINA
28 CANNAVARO

I find it good that we don't risk Nedved he must be fully fit for CL Clash, also it seems as if Cap wants to rest Trez or is he injured?

so i expect Zalayeta to take part in this game!
Nedved is in doubt for the real game too :(

I don't think Nedved and Trez are both just being rested. Surely Capello wouldn't be so silly as to leave two fit players out (not even on the bench)

Exactly. If he was resting Trez I'm pretty sure he would still be on the bench.

FORZA JUVE! 3pts... but we have never beaten messina before. 1 draw, 1 loss. Now lets make it 1 win aswell :D
Do you mean that we've never beaten Messina away from home because we beat them 2-1 in the Delle Alpi earlier on this season.

I think he's proud of himself for catching Udinese off guard with his 3-4-3, and he's trying to catch Messina off guard aswell. I don't really see how playing with 5 defenders is going to get us a goal within 36 seconds like last week, but.. he's the coach :)
We played with the same five defenders last week, gray. Thuram, Cannavaro, Montero, Zebina and Zambrotta all started. I'm sure that Zebina and Zambrotta will do their fair share of attacking.

Give Olivera another chance:

buffon
zebina thuram cannavaro zambrotta
Camoranesi Emerson Blasi
Olivera
Ibrahimovic Del Piero

Anyway, Trezeguet's injury might be a blessing in disguise. I prefer Ibra-Del Piero upfront anyway and with Trezeguet injured Capello doesn't have much choise to field otherwise.

I hope that Trez isn't seriously hurt but at least we know that Del Piero will get the start, which he deserves imo.

I'm not 100% sure that he's injured but he didn't play in the game between ranks at training yesterday (the partitella as they call it) and on Wednesday he trained by himself. His omission from the squad for Saturday's game leaves me to believe that he's struggling with a slight injury, but I don't know for sure.

Nedved, Trezeguet and Emerson trained by themselves.

Basically says that Nedved is still struggling a little and isn't comfortable kicking the ball at full force yet. Trez didn't play in the game between ranks.

Actually, Trez has a fever:

Trez and Nedved sidelined
Friday 18 February, 2005

Leaders Juventus will face Messina on Saturday without both David Trezeguet and Pavel Nedved.

The pair have been omitted from the squad for the Week 25 clash, escalating fears that the Czech ace will also miss the Champions’ League game against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

"Trezeguet currently has a fever and he won’t travel to Messina, but we are optimistic that he will be fine for Madrid," stated boss Fabio Capello.

"Nedved hasn’t made it either and he is a doubt for Real. At this moment in time he won’t play, even if we might still take him to Spain to see whether to risk him for part of the game."

The midfielder has been on the sidelines with a knee injury since the victory over Brescia on January 23.

Although the Bernabeu clash is undoubtedly the club’s biggest game of the season so far, Capello wants his side to focus on one match at a time.

"Messina will be very difficult," he stated ahead of the Stadio San Filippo tie. "They are a side to be feared at home.

"We are now not thinking about Real because we can’t afford any mistakes if we want to maintain our Serie A leadership."

It is unclear at this stage what sort of side Capello will select tomorrow, but Alex Del Piero will probably partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attack.

The tactician is also likely to revert back to a 4-4-2, despite using a 3-4-3 against Udinese and testing a 5-3-2 in training this week.

Squad: Buffon, Ferrara, Tacchinardi, Montero, Pessotto, Emerson, Ibrahimovic, Del Piero, Chimenti, Birindelli, Camoranesi, Appiah, Zambrotta, Blasi, Thuram, Bonnefoi, Olivera, Zalayeta, Zebina, Cannavaro.
