Camolese: We Didn't Show Juve Enough Respect

Livorno coach Giancarlo Camolese reprimanded his side for the performance against Juventus on Sunday evening, their 3-1 defeat putting to a halt their run of 9 consecutive positive league results.

Camolese was none too happy with how his side performed against the Bianconeri, stating afterwards his belief that the Amaranti allowed too much space against such a big team.

"Apart from the chances we had and the great commitment that we put in, we forgot against whom we were playing," commented the former Torino coach at the end of the match.

"We gave them too much space in the counter attacks, then they score, and our own efforts are saved," he continued. "We were allowing Juventus to counter-attack too easily with their more accomplished players.

"Thus it was an entertaining game, but we gave too much to a team of higher technical qualities," concluded Camolese.

Despite the defeat, Livorno are still four points above the relegation zone thanks to an excellent run over the last 3 months.

Livorno have been on good form lately, we go there and win 3-1 but I ma still reading stuff against Ranieri.

I am just curious when did Juventus play brilliant football on a consistent basis even with world class talent.

Newsflash we have never been admired for our quality of football just our grit or grinta as they say in Italy so why fans are expecting a team comprising of old men like Del Piero and Nedved, workers but not talented men like Nocerino, zanetti, Salihamidzic, Iaquinta, Molinaro etc to play champagne football just beggars belief.

Apart from Bernd Schuster there are not that many managers doing as well as Ranieri in his first season at a club and whilst I am not a fan of his at all, I can only admire what he has done so far.

This time on thursday he could quite possibly be in the semi finals of coppa italia and 3rd in the league ahead of teams like Milan and Fiorentina, this time last season napoli knocked us out of coppa italia in the 3rd round or so.

Ranieri is not ruining this side, this side is not talented enough to play better than this and they are overachieving if we are to be brutally honest.

If he wins its not his doing its a few elite players, if he draws or loses then its totally his fault.

I might have done that with Capello but that was because Capello had far better material to work with and there was no reason why a team that had Mutu, Dp, camo, Zambrotta, Vieira, Emerson,Zlatan, Nedved, Trez and co should be playing crap week in week out.

But this current side? Come on! If anything Prandelli is doing a bad job at Fiorentina and Ancelotti is far worse as the material is there, but the motivation and/or tactics are all wrong as they should not be behind this Juventus side.

Look at Torino with some of the players they have struggling badly, now that is bad management.

Considering what Udinese and Sampdoria have to work with, they have done very well and so has Ranieri

i agree to a certain extent. And credit to Ranieri is that we are improving collectively. Also he gave some players the freedom to roam in the midfield even with our weak defense.
I can't get past molinaro.Just look at him last night and molinaro a few weeks back against empoli.

also its not like we didn't win in the past due to players' abilities. And its not only with capello, but i saw that a lot with DD.

I bet the extent you dont agree with is the Capello bit:p

Speaking of the fabulous 1, I hear he is looking into the possibility of Emerson having an English ancestor and its been reported that Emerson has been seen with a Thesaurus and Chambers dictionary.

Dont why he is going to those lenghts all he has to know how to say is fuck off and he and Rooney would be equal in vocabulary range.

:shifty: :p

well it is a bit but i can't disagree with anybody on that point.

and i wouldn't put it past him trying to pull a shifty and bring emerson along with him. Claiming hes been playing for brazil with a false passport all these years and hes actually a scouser and actually has a house just between where rooney and gerrard grew up.

The problem isnot so much this season. I doubt most Juve could have expected to win Serie A this year considering all the quality players we have lost, and how our squad compares to AC or Inter.

However for the longterm it is essential we get a good coach for next season and beyond. Ranieris recruited players mostly have been a waste, and Ranieri has struggled to win anything as coach (and we should be looking to win trophies next season and beyond)

is it just me or do you get pissed when we finally work our way onto the flanks in a promising position, and our winger/ fullback is faced with a defnder and instead of passing back, holding the ball, or even attempting to beat the man, they cross against the defender and get a throw-in usually, rarely a corner. that pisses me the hell off! the main culprits are palladino, salihamidzic and molinaro in that order. the smart players like nedved, del piero and even birindelli don't do it.

i used to say that i like salihamidzic at RB, but now i think i prefer birindelli. unfortunately, i think ranieri will pick salihamidzic for the inter game because he was taken off probably to get some rest.

Livorno in good form still isn't a good side, to be honest.
I agree that we rarely to never played brilliant football before, but we used to play determined, precise and strong football on a very consistent basis. Consistency used to be one of our strong points, especially under Capello.

Talking of coaches doing well in their first season.. look no further than the Capello you love so much ;).

While I agree that Ranieri is being given much more abuse then he should, it's not the whole story. None of us expects champagne football with the current squad, but sadly a lot of us had imagined that we would've been able to gather a better squad than the current one we have.

Results are in Ranieri's favour so far, but again.. that does not tell the whole story. In the coppa we faced lowly competition so far and we ony barely got past Empoli, which really was an unneassarily messy encounter. Though possible, getting the better of inter to get into the semi's is still far away.

Capello's side was indeed much better, but this side isn't weak at all. IF everyone was fit, our side wouldn't be much inferiour to that of Roma and we are several levels above Fiorentina. Prandelli doing a bad job ?! Fiorentina has one great player in Mutu, but that's it. They have several decent older players and some nice talents to complement that, but no way do they have a great squad. If anything, Prandelli made a puzzle out of pieces that did not fit.

Squadwise we're also still a lot better than Udinese and Sampdoria, yet these are two of the sides we failed to beat. Especially against the latter opponent the preperation was not adequate, so a result that does fall under Ranieri's responsibility.

Milan have only themselves to blame, for their current position.

All in all, results have been decent, but we could've done better in a lot of games and also in gathering a good squad in the summer.

Well said Dommy boy. Not to forget, we had chances to beat Roma, Fiorentina, but he didn't want to risk, he played for a draw, just like he did against Inter and Milan and even Torino we could only score at the last minute. He is afraid to lose a match, and that's not good for us.

These lucky results is the only reason he is getting these defense. He had a very strong result at the start of the season and that;s it, I am starting to believe that the only reason we had a good start is because of the hunger of our players. I know Camoranesi will come back and will save our asses and many things will change, but I hope this doesn't mean that Ranieri won't leave at the end of the season, we are not going to win anything with this guy, maybe a Coppa Italia and that's all!

I was thinking the same thing while watching the game....

Livorno was pushing 2 players towards the line to stop our runs down the right sideline, and leaving the middle of the field wide open. So, instead of moving the ball into space, Palla and Brazzo kept trying to go thru the 2 defenders, and either losing the ball, or winning the throw-in....it got frustrating to watch !!

Livorno in good form still isn't a good side, to be honest.
