Diego is a great player and our best player. I find myself wanting to kiss him when I see him run and fight while the idiots around him just walk and don't have the brain to follow him.

But we were a 4-4-2 team that was set to rely on width and strong attackers who were masters of heading the perfect crosses Nedved and Camo provided.
By buying Diego it was clear to Ranieri that the whole formation will need to be changed and in order to do it, and get the best out of Diego, we were going to need a regista, great full backs in addition to Diego and attackers who were going to run into spaces instead of static attackers who are strong in the air. We were gonna lose the width so the great full backs were a must, while a regista and a running attacker were a must too considering our lack of ideas behind Diego and the lack of movement in front of Diego.

Ranieri knew that it's impossible to buy all those players and that sooner or later the things that are happening now will happen.
That's why instead of buying Diego he wanted us to keep a formation where we rely on width, the well known to the players formation, and buy a great winger+ a regista or a great full back.

The transformation to a Nedvedless Juve would have been much easier and the results would have been better.

Of course, I'm talking strictly about this season because if we have a good mercato and buy the needed players, then Diego's purchase will prove to be a great one in the future.
I do agree with you Alen. Our club make our own problem while push to change the formation to 4-3-1-2. I'd say Ferrara actually realize that 4-3-1-2 formation needs movement forward, good fullbacks, and a regista. That's why they bought Grosso and Caceres as Fullbacks and try to sign D'Agostino, and make IQ as first team striker alongside Amauri. But they identify the wrong players we needed i guess.

For now, the best formation would be 4-2-3-1 with Melo - Momo as DM or even put Candreva there. And played Gio and Iago/Esposito/Rossi to replace Camo. We really don't have any choice right now. Or if we try to back to 4-4-2, how about put Diego on the right and Gio on the left. Do Diego can't really play wide? If i want to compare to Zidane, he play as trequartista for our team and France NT, but in Real Madrid, he played as LM and Beckham as RM.. Can Diego do that?

I hope Zac can find the solution and the right formula that suits us soon. I hate watch Juve and we lack ideas, just can get the goal only from dead ball situation, penalty and our defense get owned by opponent.

This result really worries me. I can't remember when last time we can win the games, oh that is again Parma, when is that again? This kind of result (draw or even lost) is make me impatient to wait for another next match and get result that can make us secure the CL spot.. This really bothering me a lot..

Our number one problem is simply the lack of will to move forward. In the one instance where we were able to link up, pass and move forward we were presented with a contrast of attitudes and styles.
I no longer blame Amauri for our short comings. The man runs himself stupid but when you have a midfield as uninspired as this one its difficult to find yourself in a scoring position. Crosses from Grosso and Caceras left a lot to be desired. When we tried to play through Diego, he had no choice but to hold up the ball and pass it round only to lose it shortly after. All our midfield knows is 'holding the ball up' and back passes. That comes down to lack of creativity around Diego and lack of communication in the midfield. They still lack a plan.

I still find comfort in that both Roma and Milan found themselves in similar positions at the start of the season.

I am not at all stating that Ferrara isn't at fault. I am just saying that he is a part of the problem. That he isn't the problem as you and others are trying to say. That we have other problems. And before those other problems are fixed too, don't expect this Juventus to do shit in the next couple of decades.
Totally true man. I agreed that was not all Ciro's fault, though a significant part of wtf our squad is doing by now refers to him. Ciro did sth to the team that I don't think if any1 else could do...

I think all of us agree that Melo is anything but a footballer at least these months, and I can't find it out why Suckroni count him in for the match...
Our strikers are terrible,I still doubt if we had a couple of good attacks, and the problem even get worse then, while we had some good moments we couldn't pass and couldn't keep possession. Perhaps we had enough free kick opportunities to get advantage through, but when sth is said to go bad, nothing will help...

We lack determination, speed, will to move forward, full concentration during the game, width, movement without the ball, knowledge how to pass, etc.

These are all things that are effecting our results and one can't expect to fix them all at once. If we don't improve at least on half of them, I'm not expecting us to get that important CL spot.

RATINGS FROM GOAL:
Buffon: 6.5 – Surprisingly had more work to do than his counterpart tonight. He had no chance on Filippini’s header.

Chiellini: 6 – Uncharacteristically gave the ball away on a couple of occasions in the early going but settled down to have a solid outing.

Cannavaro: 6 - Played through the pain of what looked like a muscle strain in the first half. Picked up a yellow card early in the second session and was quickly substituted.

Legrottaglie: 7 - His first goal of the season was a timely one as he headed in Diego’s cross three minutes before the half-time whistle.

Caceres: 6 - A quiet evening for the Uruguayan until he made his way forward in the last 30 minutes of the match. His crosses left much to be desired though.

Candreva: 6.5 - He made a great run against his former side in the early going but was rendered ineffective after that. Was jeered on his return by the Livorno faithful and reacted with a couple of heavy challenges on his former team-mates.

Felipe Melo: 5 - Committed too many needless fouls and it was no surprise when he received his marching orders in the 81st minute.

Grosso: 6 - The Italy international was caught napping at the back and let Filippini slip in unmarked to score the opening goal of the match.

Diego: 7 - It was his set-piece delivery that set up Legrottaglie’s goal and he looked dangerous each time he touched the ball in the second half.

Del Piero: 6.5 - The legendary captain wore his heart on his sleeve in the first half. Had a chance in the 31st minute from a free kick and gave his all for the Old Lady tonight unlike some of his team-mates.

Amauri: 5 – Struggled again this evening and cut a desultory figure upfront. At this point in time it looks as if Juventus signed the wrong South American striker from Palermo.

Indeed. The mistake last reason was not sacking Ranieri. Nor getting Ferrara to take care the rest of the last season (the moral boost and results were evident enough).
The mistake in the end was keeping him for this season. It was above all a gamble to keep Ferrara. He might have still kept the good form the squad was showing towards the start of the season (if Tiago plays well, that is good enough form for me) if there weren't many injuries. The injuries forced Ferrara to rotate the squad continuously and that just fucked our season.

The fault for Ferrara's season in the end comes down to the injuries and his inability to take the initiative about those injuries. But the biggest blame for the bigger picture comes down to those two clowns, for not hiring a coach that can actually take the initiative and for day dreaming about Guardiola and not taking action about our faults.
EVERYBODY is saying that now, but when Ferrara was hired no-one said this. What was said: Ferrara can't be worse than Ranieri, he'll play the youngsters, he'll fix the defense etc. Read the first pages of the Ferrara thread, not one cautious person, nobody saying that it'll be a gamble. Remember when those "clowns" signed Melo and Diego and people said we have the best midfield in Europe and shit like that. Who are the clowns again?

:agree: I don't think anybody could have foreseen this. Come to think of it, I think Moggi was the only one saying they bought the wrong players. I don't know if hew knew better or just bashing everything these BOD's do.

I think there are a couple of things to it: The board failed in the transfers. Not that they did not bring good players, we just don't have the team for any tactics. I agree very much with what somobody wrote about having a 442 team, and buying players for 4312. And I think this could very well we a big part of the problem. Secco is winning the battles against coaches - starting out with Deschamps. So it is our sporting director setting things, and he obv. is not good enough. Secco should have paid more attentions to Moggis football knowledge, than his manipulative coercing skills. He must be as slick as an eel, otherwise he would have been gone. Oh and I think there were rumours about Bettega wanting Gentile. Not saying he would be better or if there is truth about it at all, but just that Secco seems to get what he wants.

But lastly I think that the team we have should be playing better, and be 3rd or 2nd. They are simply underperforming. I don't think we can blame injuries an tactics on that. We have 3 players who have consistently delivered this season. Buffon, Chiellini and Diego. That at least 12-15 players not playing very well. Is it the lack of a leader, the BOD or the coach? I don't know, but we have to fix their minds otherwise we'll never play good ball again.

I thought we saw some improvement against Lazio, but today was a step back. I don't think we can judge Zac yet, because this ship is not easy to turn
