An effortless win from Juventus, we basically had three chances during play and were able to make them goals. Other chances were from freekicks and corners were just wasted. For a while in the second half when we were only one goal up, Lecce were so close to equalizing and that made it even more dangerous with losing Abbiati.

Our defence was solid and they managed to play the offside trap pretty well. Kovac was solid and more impressive than Thuram, I would give him the nod from now on. Chiellini played well in the first half but was below par in the second. Zambrotta was not bad on the right, he had a couple of runs forward but nothing impressive.

AS for the midfield, the problem of creativity remains. Emerson is a hard worker but does not add to the game and Giannichedda is only good at losing balls, giving bad passes and bad positioning. Nedved was okay, he had some good moves and shots and so was Mutu. Probably our best players today.

Del Piero was good in the first half and had nothing to do in the second and Zlatan aside from his goal did nothing as well. Del Piero won some freekicks in the first half and was close to scoring from one.

Zalayeta coming for Zlatan was a good choice as Trezeguet is kept for the game against Sampdoria it seems to start with Capello's favourite formation/starting lineup. Zalayeta moved well behind the ball and was alive and managed to make a good pass for Mutu to score our second and game killer and finally managed to get on the score sheet by a superb shot.

Camoranesi coming in for Del Piero also added something to the team and moved Mutu to play in the forward postion which suits him better and thus going on the scoresheet.

All in all, some say this was an undeserved win others say the team was bad, I woudl say it was an EFFORTLESS win. We got the three points and that's what mattered today.
Thanks for keeping the updates....

Some notes:

I don't know how can this be done, but Zalayeta deserves a better role in the team. Not only because he scored, but also because he's involved in the game play more than any other forward we have. He goes back, helps in the game build up and he can score, and he does it with style.

Mutu is better as a forward or maybe better on the left flank.

Camoranesi should always start.

Again another typical boring and lackluster Juventus win, and I have to say the scoreline is extremely flattering. Lecce could have easily scored two goals and made our day a lot worse than just the actual display, but I'm getting rather used to this Juventus now.

In the first half we only had a couple chances, and luckily for us Ibrahimovic scored a good goal to give us the lead. I actually missed part of the first 45 because of satellite problems on the channel I was watching, about ten minutes to be exact, however neither side really dominated or looked rather convincing, especially Lecce.

In the second half Lecce looked much better and actually could have scored a few goals. We did not really control the midfield the way I had hoped and the match just seemed to be like a huge boring blur...even with an attacking setup we failed to create much and there were not many good interchanges and exhanges between players with the ball. It goes without saying creativity is not really our forte, as you all very well know. When Lecce was pressing hard in the latter stages of the match, though, we created a lot on the counter-attack and grabbed two decent goals. But really the scoreline was extremely harsh on Lecce because the match could have gone either way.

At least Capello is now experimenting with Chiellini at left-back and Zambrotta on the right...perhaps that will turn out to be the future setup however I still have my doubts. I also do not like Mutu on the right wing, or even the left for that matter...personally I believe a free role up top would be the best situation for him to work his magic because he is too restrained playing on the wing. And we also continue to see how much drive we lose without Vieira in the side.

Abbiati was decent however not really tested that much.

Zambrotta was solid and made some decent attacks down the right flank.

Kovac was very solid from what I saw, apart from the last few minutes of the match where Lecce caused us a few problems.

Cannavaro same as Kovac.

Chiellini was decent today and looked solid defending. One thing I like about Chiellini is he usually provides us with good balls up the wing and out of the back. Hopefully he will continue to improve and take that left-back role for us.

Mutu was decent however like I said before I do not like him on the right-wing. He was limited to north and south runs, and we did not see him cut inside towards the goal that much. Give him a role up top in a trident.

Emerson was quietly solid, more so than on Tuesday but that is to be expected.

Giannichedda same as Emerson, however to a much lesser extent in terms of influence.

Nedved was better today as well however he is still off form.

Ibrahimovic scored a good goal however apart from that I did not see him do much.

Del Piero really had a quiet match however at least he kept posession instead of giving the ball away.

Camoranesi came on and immediatly helped change the match, as his runs helped us score on the counter.

Zalayeta scored a good goal after a good through ball from Camoranesi.

Chimenti came on for an injured Abbiati and made one great save for us against his former side.

NB. My ratings are not Italian newspaper style where you score a hat-trick and still only get an 8. My ratings will probably be 0.5 more than the Italian style ratings.

Abbiati: Didn't have much to do. Hopefully his injury isn't serious. 6

Zambrotta: Decent performance. Not as much of an attacking force as he can be but still did pretty well. 6.5

Kovac: Solid. For me he's a more reliable player than Thuram and deserves a starting place based on his form. 7.5

Cannavaro: Ok. Wasn't tested that much but dealt with what came his way. 6.5

Chiellini: Definitely better than he was against Bayern. On the whole he looked more comfortable and got involved in the attacks. 6.5

Emerson: Good game. Broke up plays and passed the ball well. Was dangerous with his free kick deliveries as well. 7

Giannichedda: I don't think he's good enough to be a first teamer for us. He gives away the ball too much and wasn't as assertive as he needs to be. 5.5

Mutu: Played well in patches. When he got the ball in good positions he gave Lecce problems but at times he wasn't involved as much as he should be. Capello finally gave him 90 minutes and he rewarded Cap's choice to play him with a goal. 6.5

Nedved: Impressive. Worked hard as usual, good passing and a couple of good shots. Keep it up, Pavel. 7

Del Piero: I thought he was quite good in the first half. Had some good combinations with Nedved and Ibrahimovic and nearly scored from a free kick. Did practically nothing in the second half but in his defence the service to him just wasn't there. 6

Ibrahimovic: Splendid finish from the Swede. A few nice touches here and there too but wasn't as influential as he can be. I hope his injury isn't serious. 6.5

Zalayeta: Won a good set of aerial challenges and scored a very good goal. Did well. 6.5

Camoranesi: Set up Zala's goal and gave the team a bit more balance in midfield. 6

Chimenti: No rating. Made one notable save though.

The overall performance wasn't that great as Lecce was able to pressure us and even come close to scoring but we did enough to win without putting in maximum effort after a CL game in Germany and knowing that we play Samp, Milan and Bayern in the next ten days or so.

To give or not to give the assist to zala? I say no.
I say yes, it was intended and Mutu scored. As for Zlatan's goal, that one was with no assist.

Yeah, but it was first a deflection. I didnt vie the assist to Vieira for Camo's gvoal against Parma for example.

But you have a point, I'll wait for a few more opinions.
