I thought we played one of the best first halves that I've seen in a long while...but reality hit in the second half
100% agreed with Vinny here. And i think i know the difference : Antonio Nocerino for Mauro Camoranesi.
Like i said in the Live thread Mauro was our Pirlo yesterday. He was everywhere, holding and distributing the ball while with Nocerino we lost that and we were the boring uncreative Juve of 2007/08. I hope this last injury isn't serious but i read it's muscular problem again. Camo is so unlucky and we desperately need him. We're two different teams with and without him.

Alessandro Del Piero :touched:
Who was the guy who cloned Dolly the sheep ? Because we really need him here in Juve to do the same job on Del Piero. Ranieri is spot on when he says that Del Piero works more than the others in the squad.

Del Piero was my MOM of course. Special mention goes to Zebina and Molinaro, especially Zebina. We played very well defensively on the flanks and we were dangerous also in attack. Very good defending by Molinaro, must be said. Overall he's been our best defender in last 5 matches.
At the end, i must mention Sissoko. If he plays defense the way he did it yesterday (stopped more attacks than all the others did in 90 minutes) then we have pure gold in our hands and it was a great transfer afterall.

His defending in the game last night made up for his bad crossing, but like i said in my report if he improves his crossing and maybe sharpen up his positioning we may have our future LB

Ranieri`s super subs.
He was forced to do that, obviously. Camoranesi was injured and he had to be replaced.
Sissoko for Trez was a great sub. Without Camo we lost the midfield and it was useless to have 3 attackers. Not only useless but even dangerous. That's why we needed Sissoko for Trez and i think it was obvious Ranieri made a good move there.
Palladino for Nedved was probably because Neddy got tired at the end.

Camoranesi was not playing out wide yesterday, he was drifting there sometimes. He was mostly distributing balls and organizing the attacks. Nocerino is definitely the wrong choice there, Sissoko is also a wrong choice. However, Tiago would have been the best option. Tiago would have been capable of continuing Camoranesi's job, maybe not as good but definitely not as horrid as Nocerino.

Sissoko coming in for one of the forwards was very much expected.

We can all guess but no one knows why he subbed Nedved.I doubt because he was tired. He could`ve tried this

Del Piero-Iaquinta

-------Nedved

Sissoko-Zanetti-Nocerino

When I heard Camo got subbed for Nocerino I was afraid we`re going to lose all 3 points. :pumpkin: It`s really pain in the ass to see Nocerino as our winger. And whats up with Camo now?I hope it`s nothing serious because we need him badly.

Yeah, I agree. I simply thought it was a comical observation.

True .I didn't mention Nocerino on purpose because i also thought he was a wrong choice. :p
With Tiago nothing would have changed, at least tactically, and since there was no need to change the tactics i'm sure it would have worked better than with Nocerino on the right.

My point was that there is no need to attack Ranieri again. The man was solid with his choices yesterday and the only mistake was (maybe it wasn't a mistake at all ? We won this way and God knows what would have happened with Tiago) not giving a chance to Tiago to replace Mauro.

First half was ok, well first 20 minutes actually. It was obvious that roma had a different game plan then usually, they dont sit back so much usually. This was their preparation for Real game i guess. So i wouldnt really say it was all down to our great game. Totti was all alone up front, Taddei and Mancini were sitting too deep.

Camo was probably our best player in the first half, seems like Ranieri gave him a free central role. He was very lively and covered a lot of ground.

The move before that Iaquintas shot was one of the best attacking displays.

Unfortunately Camo got injured and from then on we looked lost. And as the game went on Roma looked more and more dangerous, taking control of the midfield, then Ranieri took out Nedved as well and it was pretty much all roma. Thank got DP was having a good game and kept the ball quite well in those last 15 minutes when he got it. We had 3 DM-s. I know that this might sound a bit lame, but at that moment i was really crying out for Diego. If we are ever again to play with 3 DM-s then we need a player like Diego in front of them.

Its worth pointing out that yesterday we played with one DM from start (ended up with 3 ofcourse in the 2nd half), that hasnt happened for a long time with juve, and it worked, and we played against a top side, not against siena or messina.

Buffon - 7,5 Has to be said wasnt tested much, but good save on De rossi freekick and solid as always.

Zebina - 7 Ok game, good runs forward yesterday and almost scored as well. Defensively was solid as well.

Legrottaglie - 7 Good game, Totti was kept quiet. Almost scored an owngoal while clearing though, but overall ok.

Chiellini - 7,5 Solid but emotional, but in big games you need guys like these.

Molinaro - 5,5 To be honest i thought his first half performance wasnt bad at all, but when Giuly replaced Taddei he got owned by Giuly. His runs forward are not bad, but he cant give any good balls for our strikers.

Camoranesi - 8,5 Very good performance, we missed him badly in the second half

Nocerino - 4,5 He really was the worst yesterday, yes he, not molinaro. He isnt a RW and his crossing is awful.

Zanetti - 6,9 Ok game, but have seen better from him

Nedved - 7 Run around lot, but didnt test keeper the entire game, he should try more often shots from distance, like in the past.

Palladino - 6 Didnt had much time really.

Del Piero - 10 Man of the match. Good performance, kept us lively in front even when nedved and camo where substituted. Only guy who really managed to keep the ball while running. And the winning goal.

Iaquinta - 7,5 Hard-worker. Good shot on goal, deserved to go in.

Trezeguet - 6,5 Typical Trez performance

Sissoko - 6,5 Well def better than Nocerino, but he made lot of fouls in quite a short time. Refs dont like his tackling.

Ranieri - 6 Had the balls to go with quite attacking line-up. Should have probably put on sissoko not nocerino on HT, its obvious that noce is in bad form right now, so why on earth give him a chance over sissoko? And then eventually in the last 15 minutes he takes off nedved and we have 3 dm-s who got owned by roma midfield. Pretty much almost blew it.

My first reaction after Camo left was why not Paladino. Ok, its not his best position but he was playing there recently or even Tiago.
But than, i remembered how Eriikson/Meclaren were playing - keep result ,and defend ..
Momo was logical replacement and re Neddy i think also the same as he wanted to keep him ready for next match.

Not got much to say on the game other than well done on playing our best football this season in the first half. We still lack creativity, but on the whole I am pleased because I never thought we would win. Zebina and Nedved were my stand out players, but smooth free kick from Del Piero.

Ranieri, at least he had the bollocks to start with something more creative and look what it did to our performance. Ill maintain that Nocerino and Molinaro aren't good enough to start, be played on the wing, and be played ahead of other players who have the same position.
