Ranieri said that he will slowly integrate Sissoko into the first 11, so expect Nocerino to start again.
:sigh: He is really poor nowadays and there shouldn't be a 1st team spot reserved for him. It's an important match and I doubt he will regain his form just now. Man, he was so abysmal in Udine. :disagree: On the other hand Sissoko is in great physical form and has more experience.

Serie A Preview: Juventus – Roma
Who: Juventus (3rd place, 44 points) v Roma (2nd place, 48 points)
When: Saturday, 16th February 2008, kick-off 20:30
Where: Stadio Olimpico, Turin

A massive clash awaits us in Turin this weekend as Juventus host Roma in one of the most entertaining fixtures of the season. The stakes are very high as both sides will definitely be after all three points, so hopefully the match lives up to its expectations…

Having just been promoted from Serie B last season, the fact that Juventus are sitting in third position with 44 points from their opening 22 fixtures, is a fantastic effort.

Having said that, however, La Vecchia Signora are a side who aren’t used to failure and, although third positions is by no means bad, fthey can do better.

Juve have had a tremendous first half to the 2007/08 Serie A season, and should be very pleased with their results. Their home record is simply amazing, as they have conceded only the four goals in 11 matches, whilst losing on one occasion in that time.

It simply is a massive game for the Bianconeri, as a loss in this match that has been recently dubbed as the 'battle for second place’, will leave Ranieri’s men seven points behind the Giallorossi with 16 match days remaining and, as Inter have proven, that will certainly be a tough margin to reduce for Juve.

Their major strength this season definitely lies in their attack and an exceptional statistic to back this up is the fact that between their three main men up front, Trezeguet, Del Piero and Iaquinta, have managed to score 38 goals in all competitions this season.

Strong Home Record

History at home to Roma is also on the Bianconeri’s side, as in 73 meetings in Turin, Juve have gone down only on seven occasions while managing to win a cool 46 times.

Everything mentioned above, makes this match seem destined for a home victory, however if Juve can’t bring it together on the day, Roma will simply take full advantage and make life extremely difficult for the Bianconeri.

They simply must perform in this match if they wish to keep their hopes of clinching second place in tact, and more importantly, their slim chances of winning this season’s Scudetto alive.

As has been the case for many weeks now, Roma simply must win once again to keep up the pace with the league leaders Inter, who host Livorno this weekend.

With an absolute nightmare of a few weeks coming up for Roma where, along with Juve, they will face Fiorentina, Inter and Napoli, as well as Real Madrid twice in the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions League, they need all the points they can get in order to remain competitive in the league, starting this weekend in Turin.

Spalletti’s men successfully managed to overcome their dreadful 0-3 defeat away to Siena, with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Reggina last weekend. However, if Roma even dreamt of playing as poorly as they did that day in Siena, the Bianconeri would run rampant, and thus the Giallorossi too must bring their A-game.

Creating A Gap

History is not on their side either, as Roma have failed to win in Turin since the 2001/02 season, when they came away with a 2-0 victory, however that could all change this weekend, as they have declared that they will be playing for the win, and that anything less will not be acceptable.

Once again, a victory for Roma this weekend will see them go seven points clear of Juve, and that would be a huge relief for Spalletti and his side, as they would feel confident of maintaining their spot in the top two for the remainder of the season.

This would also allow the Giallorossi to put more time and effort in to their quest for Champions League glory, with many big names tipping them to overcome the current Spanish La Liga leaders, Real Madrid.

Roma do have a great record away from home this season, however it is simply nothing compared to that of the Bianconeri.

It will definitely be tough for the Giallorossi to win this one, however if the likes of Totti, Perrotta, Mancini and De Rossi can fire, there’s no reason why they won’t come away with all three points…

TEAM NEWS

Juventus

Ranieri has a full squad at his disposal, with the exception of long-term casualties Andrade and Marchionni. Chiellini returns from a six week stint on the sidelines, whilst Stendardo’s suspension has finally ended, and he is now available to make his Serie A debut with the Bianconeri. Despite his match winner against former club Udinese last weekend, Iaquinta is set to start on the bench, as Del Piero and Trezeguet are set to start in attack together once again. And in some final good news for the Juve fans, any doubts over the fitness of Trezeguet and Camoranesi have been quashed by Ranieri, who has recently stated that both players will play from the first minute of the match.

Roma

In great news for Spalletti, star central defender Juan is fit and raring to go, following a successful recovery from an ankle injury. Second choice goalkeeper Gianluca Curci is also set to remain on the sidelines for the next four to six weeks, as is Roma’s third choice goalkeeper, Julio Sergio. Despite Juan’s timely return to the squad, Spalletti may choose to start Ferrari, to ensure that Juan is fully fit for his side’s midweek clash with Real Madrid.

POSSIBLIE STARTING LINE-UPS

Juventus (4-4-2)
Buffon; Zebina, Legrottaaglie, Chiellini, Molinaro; Camoranesi, Nocerino, Zanetti, Nedved; Trezeguet, Del Piero

Roma (4-2-3-1)
Doni; Panucci, Mexes, Juan, Tonetto; De Rossi, Pizarro; Taddei, Perrotta, Mancini; Totti

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Juventus – Alessandro Del Piero: The Juventus number ten has had a slight dip in form in recent weeks; however he will most certainly be determined to perform well this weekend at home against Roma. Del Piero thrives on the big stage, so expect the Juve captain to reach a new level this weekend, and be the man to cause havoc for the Roman defense.

Roma – Francesco Totti: As is the case with Alex, 'Il Capitano’ has had an indifferent start to the new calendar year. He managed a brace the last time these two sides met earlier in the season in Rome, and he too will be fully motivated to repeat that sort of form once again. He will be closely monitored by the Juve back four, however if given half a chance this weekend, expect Totti to take it, and find the back of the net.

PREDICTION

It is definitely a tough match to pick a winner in, so my instincts are telling me that this one is headed for a draw. With Juve’s fine home record, and the Giallorossi’s great record away from home, the sides are somewhat balanced in that regard. Both sides play a similar brand of football, and therefore this match seems as if it is destined to be an entertaining battle of two quality midfields, whereby one opportunity may be enough to make or break the contest. A low scoring draw is on the cards for sure…

Juventus 0 - 0 Roma
