That's why I didn't mention anything about the last 2 subs. But the first one? Shows how ignorant Del Neri is at times.
It was necessary to let IQ play, but not at such a crucial time.
DN obviously wanted not to change anything by putting Iaq instead of Toni and keep playing the very same game. Iaq's duty was supposed to be to put pressure on defenders, collect high balls and everything else Toni was doing.
We'll never know if it was the better choice than to put Del Piero instead of Toni/Matri.

Pepe was awful and nearly cost us the game.
OK, ratings time...

Buffon - 7
Sorensen - 7.5
Barzagli - 8, MoM
Bonucci - 7
Chiellini - 7.5
Krasic - 6.5
Melo - 6.5
Aquilani - 6
Marchisio - 6.5
Toni - 6.5
Matri - 7

Subs:

Iaquinta - 4.5
Pepe - 5
Sissoko - 5

Coach:

Delneri - 7 - Gameplan and defensive organization was good, and I can't blame him too much for injury-caused subs

Breaking news: Inter demand Calciopoli 2 for Eto'o missing chance. Moratti says Juve were behind this terrible miss and that few seconds before Eto'o crucial miss Sorensen and Barzagli threw some seeds on the left part of the field to grow some grass and disturb Eto'o's chances.

Then it was incredible bad luck. 3 of our players got injured ( or couldn't continue playing) almost at the same time. Marchisio, Melo and Matri. Talking about bad luck. That allowed Inter to take complete control of the game.
Thank God it all ended well. I only hope their injuries aren't serious.
i don't know if you got me right. i just stated the injury he had prior the game was overuse of his abductor muscles. i don't think he is injured again ... perhaps just a precautious action by del neri

Last year we beat Inter at home with a superb Marchisio goal - let's not forget how last season ended up

Don't get too excited - we are no where near an impressive team- in the last 20 mins we failed to string 3 passes together

i thought bonucci was slightly better than barzagli, not taking anything away from him, but there was a moment in the first half when eto'o flicked the ball over barza and bonucci bailed him out.

Great work from the boys...deserved the luck at the end.

    Some points however:

    • Pepe is very lucky to survive after some truly kamikaze work.
    • The subs were awful. Del neri and or his medical team should have checked on matri first before bringing off marchisio. Clumsy work from the management.
    • Iaq was epic in his attempts to help inter win, only overshadowed by pepe's brief cock up. Iaq however was as useless as amauri at his worst. His only excuse is that is he is severly unfit. If so, why bring him on?
    • luca Toni showed us all how to play the big man role, IMHO I thought he had a terrific game and gave us soo much more attacking play. I hope amauri and iaq were watching and learning how to hold the ball and bring in others.
    • We now have evidence that both aqua and krasic can pay the full 90 minutes and not need to get subbed.
    • melo was a super hero, messy but aqua would tidy it up for him. Some very nice skills also. When he is good he is very good, when he is bad...
    • finally there is chiellini. A herculain game, soo powerful at the back and going forward, really drove us forward. His inherent miss haps are less serious out wide. Looking like a very good permanent solution as Bon and bar had a great game!
