Out of europe, out of the scudetto race and, effectively out of the Italian Cup,Juve have little more to play for than their pride. The team are wrackedby injuries, and Marcello Lippi looked relieved to secure a point in the 0-0 stalemate with Udinese last weekend.Striker Aex Del Piero is still out,so it's hard to see a Juve team going through ripping the heart out of Modena. While it's hard to seethem slipping up,the old lady will probably amble to an uninspiring win against their modest visitors, who will concentrate on battening down the hatches in Turin. While Modena may be in for a mauling at Juventus, that's not to say it'll end in a landslide victory.
Juventus to beat Modena 3-0 :)
Agree on every word.

CHANNEL 4: LIPPI CROWNS ROSSONERI
Marcello Lippi believes the Scudetto is in Milan’s hands and Juve’s new aim is to snatch second place from Roma.

“The Rossoneri are doing extraordinary things this season and although we are not mathematically ruled out, I’d say the Scudetto is no longer an issue.”

Lippi has won the Italian title for the last two years running, but the eleven-point gap has all but eliminated them from the race.

“Taking second place is crucial for our future,” insisted the Coach. “Avoiding the Champions’ League preliminary round means being able to prepare ourselves properly for the next season.”

The club’s fitness regime has come under fire following a series of muscular injuries to the squad, but Gianluca Zambrotta and Alessandro Birindelli are back for Sunday’s match with Modena.

That is not the only good news, as Zambrotta has officially extended his contract with Juventus until 2008, scotching rumours of a move to Barcelona.

“This is an important factor, even if we can’t risk everyone from the start,” he explains. “Modena are a good squad, but we want more than a victory. We must be utterly convincing.”

He even announced the starting eleven for that tie as Buffon, Birindelli, Ferrara, Thuram, Zambrotta, Camoranesi, Tacchinardi, Maresca, Nedved, Di Vaio and Trezeguet.

Many newspapers in Italy maintain that Lippi will not be there to lead them through the summer, but he cuts short any discussion on the matter.

“I still have another year left on my contract,” he assures. “That is all I need to say.”

----"we want more than a victory".......i guess that means he want to win 3 points, pride and confidence.

about the match.. the scudetto is out of reach, our place is secured as 3nd.. Lippi should warm up some Primavera players to get them ready for next year, and keep our big guns safe for coppa.. we won't have a better opportunity than this.. (yeah, right )
Last time I checked we were only 1 point behind Roma with around 8 matches left to play. We should go for the 2nd spot to avoid the qualifying rounds and have a better preparation for next season during the summer.

I'm really curious to see how Trezeguet is going to feature, after all those rumours of a move to Barca. It's also good to finally have Zambrotta, Maresca, and Nedved all playing together. We really missed Zambro while Pav haven't been playing up to his own standards and hopefully that changes during the run-in of the season.

After Modena we face Inter at the San Siro. I smell revenge :fero: !!

P.S. Good news Zambro has extended his contract to 2008

aginst MODENA?
Of course a win against Modena would increase our confidence. We havent won a single game in what the past 3 games? Heck, a win against the second team Primavera would bring confidence to the team.
