Del Piero out for three to four weeks
ROME: Juventus captain Alex Del Piero is expected to be out of action for between three to four weeks while he recovers from an injury to his right calf muscle, a spokesman for the club told Reuters on Thursday.
The news will be greeted with some relief by the striker, who feared a much longer layoff after hobbling off the pitch after seven minutes of Tuesday's Champions League tie against Deportivo Coruna, which Juve lost 1-0.
A similar injury to the left calf in September kept the Italy international out of first team action for more than 50 days.
In the short term, however, Del Piero's injury adds to the woes of Juve coach Marcello Lippi, who is already struggling to cope with a long casualty list and has just 13 first team players available for tomorrow's game against Serie A leaders AC Milan. -Reuters
