It is a fine line but you play the best line up to suit what you want executed. Dybala plays a big role in that. He just needs to have the support in the team to ensure he can do what he does best. 3 in midfield, costa or bernardeschi supporting dybala and dybala playing closer to goal and closer to Higuain is what will offer us the best attack and balance in midfield.

Defence is still the puzzle in my opinion. We have a handful of cb choices with only one choice being a clear starter.

Never looked like conceding. Which is a nice change of pace :) Howedes looked very calm and distributed the ball well. Howedes behind Chielo and Rugani should be our main options with 3-4-2-1. Which is easily converted to 4-3-3 with one sub. Seems like the team is finding the right shape before 3 vital matches this year. Lets just hope we can build on this and improve

Great to keep a clean sheet for the second successive game. I think we need to deploy a 3 man defense more often against the big teams. It's difficult to read too much into a game against Crotone; Friday's Napoli encounter is a true litmus test.

Alli is 21 right now. Dybala was 21 when he signed for us and scored 23 goals in his first season with the club. Alli is not better than Dybala for his age.

As for Alli having so much to his game, I guess you aren't aware of this statistic:

Yes, Dele Alli would have certainly helped us beat one of the best teams of all time in that final.
Real were not that great... We were just terrible...
As for Dele Ali - He is good but he offers different things than Dybala
I`d pick Dybala over Dele Ali any day... (although having them both would be nice)...

I'm talking about the CL. Dybala was instrumental in one tie and one tie alone, and that was vs Barca. In the finals he ghosted, he froze like a deer blinded by car lights. It was 10 vs 11.
Not really Dybala`s fault as he cant act on his own vs 11 players..
Our attack was non existent vs Real and not just Dybala... even the Mandzukic goal was a fluke...

Well, Crotone or not, the defence looked great. Its not like we kept the clean sheet against teams like SPAL or Benevento earlier in the season.

A 2 man midfield is sterile offensively and it is weak defensively. Not to mention what it does to the likes of Dybala and whoever plays as a CF.
3 man midfield we are on a much higher tempo, much more incisive and allowed us to create more.

It's not about crotone it's about playing well, $#@! i care about crotone, we shouldn't be waiting for 2nd half to score. Should attack the jugular from the get go
I think its fair to say if we are going to go far Dybala has to be in good form. Where would he play in the 3 man midfield? Play with Contes 3-5-2 with no wingers? Not trying to be negative just wondering how we could have winger and
dybala and 3 cms

Not that i want it back, but The 352 of the Conte era, with Asa and Licht on the wings, can't be compared at all to a 352 with Alex Sandro and Cuadrado on the wings.

----------Höwedes---Rugani---Chiello
Cuads----Marchisio--Pjanic---Matuidi---A.Sandro
---------------Dybala--------Higgy

Not bad at all.

I agree with you and I like that but there is some level of using the players at our diposal and we just paid nearly 90 mil for wingers. Also last year we went to the CL final using the 4-2-3-1 so its not that it cant be a good formation but I think mainly we dont have the team chemistry we had last year and the team belief that we can keep games tight and win. Last year we had great faith in a awesome defense which gave us belief. We keep talking aabout our offense being out of ideas but when it somes down to it we have the same offense as last year with a lot more players at our disposal. The biggest difference is we are getting no offensive production from our outside backs like we did last year.
IMO thats why he tried the 3-4-3 to push the wing back higher up. Once our defense stops leaking goals and we can move the ball out of the back everything will fall in to place I think
