We are NOT, as a club, a prime example of an alleged decline of italian football. I don't even see the decline. We had a team which the world cup four years ago, and now most of those champions are too old to show the same zeal and talent...Italy's problems are more about a transition, from old to new, and we do have some massive potential for defence, as always...as a country, as well as lively options in attack, Gio and Balotelli...the future of Italy, looks fine. the present is a bit fucked, yes...but I think its as much due to a natural lack of talent to bridge the gap between old and young, as it is about some kind of serious decline of the actual standard of football played in italy. Money also plays a key factor...Serie A is not as rich as the premier league...which can attract more of the world's best than serie A, and so the football there would be of a better quality, BECAUSE, they have more of the world's best players.
Juve's problems have a similar shape. As in a painful transition between the old guard and a new era. I honestly feel this good be remedied massively because we already have players of potential, who could be played much more often, to show what they can do...but other than this transition period...our club structure is fucked. We need a powerful football man to run this club, and a powerful football man to run our transfers.
For now, we can only hope, that zach, feels so pushed into a corner, that he simply HAS to try using Giovinco. We need camo, because despite his horrific attitude, he shows glimpses of world class talent. We also need diego...i suppose we could try a 4-4-1-1. With diego playing just off trezeguet/iaquinta. Gio on the left, camo on the right, Melo and marchisio in the middle...
Buffon
Zebina Canna Chiellini Grosso
Camo Melo Marchisio Gio
Diego
Trez/Iaquinta
We create so very little...the most obvious solution to our attacking and defensive woes is to play more of our players who are good on the ball. Meaning Camo, DIego, Giovino...Perhaps also candreva in place of melo. But melo is more muscular...though also edgy in spirit. Our inability to retain and do something useful with possession, has been killing us all season...
