If Pirlo is a certain starter in CL then he must rest vs Atalanta. Besides him I would play the same team that will vs Dortmund to regain some confidence/momentum that might have been lost after last weeks defeat

And that is one of the reasons we will struggle. Pirlo is a shadow of his former self. He should'nt be playing at therse levels anymore.
Pirlo experience and calmness on the ball will be needed against Dortmund.

Granted, he's been a shadow of himself lately, but he is still a vital part of a serious challenge in Champions League.

As much as I want to believe that, it's hard for me to see it that way. We all have seen Pirlo this season, in Seria a and in the CL, he simply wasn't good enough.

Not to mention that our best performances were argubly when Marchisio took the DM spot. He is simply much more consistent, can help the defense and he changes the flow of our game completley, making it alot faster.

I can't see why we would choose to play the old, slow shadow of Pirlo. He is not even making his sublime passes anymore. I've said it before, when was the last time he created a chance with a long pass like the ones he used to creatr every game 2 seasons ago ?

I have nothing against Pirlo, counterwise, I really appreciate him as a player, but truth be said, he is not the one we should be relying on in a game like this.

Playing Pirlo makes no sense at all unless Vidal is next to him with one of Marchisio or Pogba. Playing Vidal as an AM so far away would be retarded.

I don't like this news.

Since he's a shadow of himself I'd exactly do opposite. I'd most probably field Vidal - Marchisio - Pogba and Pereyra ahead of them to have the defense backed up first and leaving the offensive work on Pogba's and Tevez's shoulders mostly.

Conceding at home would be a disaster and Pirlo does those horrible giveaways this season quite a lot. Imagine exposed Bonucci and Chiellini against Reus, Abumeyang and Kuba. I'm having shivers :D
