Yeah, seriously.
Pirlo wasn't at his best, technically, in that game. But keep in mind that Roma tracked him like crazy, more than any other team has done this season. Roma disrupted our play a lot, and I'm still surprised that a lot of people didn't see that.
What I absolutely loved about Pirlo in the Roma game was that he, a technical "maestro" type of player, worked his ass off. One of the images that I still carry with me from that game is the sight of Pirlo, tired as fuck, in injury time after 90 minutes, sprints like crazy to reach one of Roma's passes to intercept it, but barely misses out and lies down on the ground gasping for air.
To see a player like Pirlo work so insanely hard for 90 minutes actually gave me goosebumps. He gave 110 %, like the rest of the squad.
Now, I know that his primary role is not to add grinta etc. to the side, but to suggest that Pirlo is someone we should bench based on his Roma-performance is just ridiculous.
