What were our defence doing when gigi got sent off? Gigi mis-timed the challenge, you can see he was going for the ball, but the defence should have not let that happen.

Im not saying gigi shouldnt have been sent off, fouled the last man, the rules are the rules.

I think Gigi knew exactly what he was doing. When he went into the challenge he knew he was probably going to be sent off. He had to do it though. The defence was a shambles.

Actually, I dont know how you can miss it, but it would have been 100% goal for Riise. He was PASSING Gigi who had already ran out, was 100% open on a empty goal (gigi outside the box by several meters). Gigi only decided to tackle him on purpose when he realized his timing was off and he cant make it. But he was already outside the box before Riise was getting the ball (to cut off the long ball, as he does often, but this time way too late), so no point second guessing it at all. Was defenite goal.

I much rather takes the red card in this case, an effort to salvage something from the game, instead of concead a goal that would meant a loss with so little time left. Manninger is good enough for 1 Serie A game.

It looked to me like he was going for the ball. I think he should have conceded the shot rather than risk being sent off. Riise probably wouldnt have scored.
.......Riise could have scored that with his eyes closed...why on earth would u rather go down 2-1 with a few minutes left, than play the rest of the game and keep it a draw like it almost was..retarded.

Possibly a bit too late, but I still wanted to give my take on the game.

Thought we started quite well. Both teams had a pretty cautious approach in the 1st half, so there were obviously few chances. I could live with that though, especially considering our recent run of form. And even though there were very few possibilities, we should have gone into halftime a goal up.

Roma started the second half willing to attack & that took us a a few minutes to get used to, but we coped pretty well. Then, out of the blue, Ale delivered some magic and we were in the lead.
Obviously, Roma then tried to pressure us, but we actually looked capable of holding on.
That is, until some of our players inexplicably started screwing up & the ref awarded a soft penalty kick (mind you, not a wrong decision but definitely a soft PK). After that, we still tried to do something, but in the end that only lead to our demise.

A draw would have been a fair result here.

Buffon 6 - Rarely troubled, but did what he had to when there was danger. Took one for the team, to no avail.
Grygera 6 - Nothing special but quite good. Very few mistakes.
Legrottaglie 6,5 - Best of the back 4, no doubt. Maybe he could have done better on the 2nd goal, but with the way our defense (the entire team actually) was stretched at that point, I just can't put that much blame on him.
Chiellini 5,5 - For the most part did quite well, as always. Sadly, he was one the guys that started screwing up halfway through the 2nd half. His fuckups, indirectly, cost us this game.
Grosso 5 - You only ever need 1 word to describe his performance(s): clumsy.
Salihamidzic 5,5 - At times very important on our right side, especially in terms of keeping the balance between defense & attack, but just didn't add enough. Also has a tendency to make the wrong decisions. Has to shoulder some blame as well for the 2nd Roma goal imo.
Sissoko 7 - Our best player. Much like Melo, he makes a few bad passes a game. Much unlike Melo, he makes up for most of them by himself. Guess he was exhausted in the end, since he was left standing right before the Buffon red card.
Marchisio 6,5 - Lively. Not always great in what he does, but a vital part for our midfield if you ask me.
Diego 5,5 - Good workrate, involved in almost every attacking move. But his decision making really leaves a lot to be desired. And I'd rather not speak about his corner/free kick delivery.
Del Piero 6 - Not a good game, but he scored out of nothing so I can live with it.
Amauri 6 - His best game in a long while. Always troubling the Roma defense & for a change his positioning was more than decent. In the end though, what use is there for a striker who does not score?

Candreva 5,5 - Difficult to rate him since he was only on the pitch for 18 min. I didn't see anything particularly good or bad.
Manninger -
Paolucci -
