deja vu from the other day
I said this in the live thread. VAR guy gets to show the frame in which the ball supposedly leaves Cuadrado’s foot for the pass. So contrary to the idea that any human error is taken out by VAR, it is up to human interpretation still.

I don’t know that’s the case here, that they chose the wrong frame, it’s very hard to say, but choose the pass leaving a millisecond or two earlier and he’s onside. And that’s my problem with VAR deciding fractional offsides.

VAR should only be used for obvious mistakes on offside calls, not a matter of millimetres where human interpretation comes into play yet again. The same way it is used for penalties and red cards. Only for very obvious errors.

We missed him against crotone aswell even worse.
None of other attackers have the presence and leadership to drive the attack forward relentlessly. We look far too casual and lackadaisical without Ronaldo pushing.

Morata has done great in his absence, burying pretty much every chance he’s gotten, but it speaks volumes that the team just isn’t creating chances behind him, and doesn’t seem to have much drive or urgency to do so. And neither Morata or Dybala are the types to be the ones demanding that urgency and drive.

Great point about Morata. I’m watching these last thinking “I must be missing something with Morata”, but it’s cause we aren’t creating a damn thing for him yet the 4-5 chances we’ve created, he has buried.

I am still angry. Fuck this match, fuck Berna and fuck Sarri.
Yes, fuck Berna.
His misplaced pass cost us this match
He can be worthless in this game, but at least don't do that stupid pass to nobody and then freeze in place while Verona players going forwards attacking our box

That Cuadrado actually kicked the ball earlier than that.
What twitter guy means is that Cuadrado kicked the ball miliseconds later, which doesn't make sense cause Morata would have been even more 'offside'.

- This is happening because we didn't buy a LB, that we are forced to play this shitty formation.
- Danilo has done well and we should move to a flat 4 at the back.
- Arthur wasn't doing anything apart from sideways passing, Rabiot was great again.
- We really missed Chiesa and Kulusevski
- Verona were actually very good and their tactics worked very well.

What is he trying to show with those pixelated pictures?
let's ask him/her. what it means for me is that var is still unreliable as @Post Ironic explained. it shares the same margin for human error as a linesman does, because if you can't pick the right moment to judge the offside, and the lines are a bit random, you're automatically unreliable.

i'm not saying that morata was onside, because i cannot tell. i do think though that the system should support attacking football, and if var refs can draw lines either way in close situations, then in its current form, it is counterproductive. morata had an other goal disallowed the other day, and that judgement was also based on the wrong moment, and the lines could have been drawn either way in that situation too.
