Ranieri pleased with the point

Claudio Ranieri insists he “could not have asked for more” as unlucky Juventus were held 1-1 by Sampdoria.

“When you create so many chances and don’t score, you risk defeat and so we did well to get a point,” said the Coach.

“We managed to get something out of this and the lads played very well, so I could not have asked for more from them.”

Remember the luck we had in Catania? It was pay-back time today. Once the post, twice the wood-work and 3 great saves from Sampdoria's keeper. You can't expect more than a draw with so many misses.
It's a sad day because we're 99.9% out of the title race. The positive sign is that we finally started playing football.

The stream i was using was buffering a lot, so i might have missed certain episodes. From what i've seen:

Buffon 5.00
- He had only one save to make and he didn't. Not his fault, but there is no ground to give him a better rating.
Grygera 4.5 - I might be biased here. I don't like him. I think he was awful
Legro 4.5 - Cassano literally raped him today
Mellberg 5.0 - Slow and mistake prone
Molinaro 6.0 - Started the match excellently. Great cross, great pass to Del Piero. He was ok in the first half and he was given stricktly defensive duties in the second half, when he didn't really have much to do.
Poulsen 5.5 - I don't remember him doing much.
Tiago 6.0 - Good
Nedved 6.0- Started as a ML, then he played AMC and MC at the end. If he didn't miss so many chances he was going to get a 7.5 because he played very well. But those missed chances robbed us of 2 more pts.
Camoranesi 6.0 - Nothing spectacular but it's obvious that we control the ball much better and we create much more with him around.
Del Piero 5.5 - Very slow. Slowed down all our attacks. But he had some excellent moves that could result with a goal if we were more lucky.
Amauri 6.0 - Very late on most occasions. But faught like he always does and scored the equalizer.
-------------------
Giovinco 6.5 - Refreshing.
Marchionni 4.5 - Bad
Marchisio /
--------------------

Ranieri 7.0 - My MOM. He started with 4-4-2, changed it to 4-3-1-2 the moment we conceded and changed that to a more attacking 4-3-1-2 at half time with Giovinco instead of Poulsen. He was forced to replace Camo and the 88th minute sub was done most probably in order to earn 1 extra minute of added time.

Al most of your report is pretty spot on, but I think Tiago deserved higher...fantastic workrate today, was all over the park...Legro did get owned by Cass a lot, but overall it was not so bad

Moilinaro had a GREAT game...some of the link-up play between him and Nedved was awesome...if only that final ball was'nt so ...:frown:

The rating doesn't really matter. 6.0 or 6.5 makes no difference. The important thing is that we play much better with Tiago in the center and that he's proving his worth.
He was playing very well before the injury. I feared that the injury might influence his future performances but he's showing again that 07/08 is behind him.
He makes our team better. Thank you for that Tiago and :xfinger: that the injuries are behind you.

As for Legro..... yeah, i might've been too harsh on him. And it was Cassano afterall, it's not like he was owned by Tiribocchi or Pellissier.

I would give Tiago 5.5 expected a bit more from him in terms of passing and melberg 5.5 because he certenatly was more than 0.5 better than legro who realy didnt have a good match, its not his first in a row is it, lets hope it will be his last:xfinger: , the rest couldn agree more.

Nobody wants to blame RUINeri, but he being satisfied with a point just angers me even more......

Our biggest problem is the board and management of this team. We have a coach who is satisfied with mediocrity, a transfer clown who is learning on the job, and 2 guys running this club who have NO past experience in football...this spells failure to me

Any fool can see that our defense is anchored by Chellini, and when he's not playing, our defense is average at best. The real Legro is rearing his ugly head, and Mellberg (who I never thought was good enough to sign) is not the answer to this defense. Besides a young and inexperienced Ariuado, we have no other alternatives at the CB position. Does any else thing it might have been a good idea to bring in another capable CB in the January transfer window ?? An attacking middie and a FB wouldnt have been a bad idea either. The goal that we gave up today is proof that this defense is weak, and isnt good enough to stand against the better teams were gonna face in the near future (I thought to myself while watching this game that Anelka is going to tear us to shreads, and we better pray that Chellini is healthy or were completely fucked)

Did anyone else think that Samp played a more defensive game after we scored, and were content to let us attack, and at worst, salvage an away draw today ?? I wasnt too impressed at the fact that we could only muster one goal with all that time remaining, and it seems the only way we are guaranteed to score a goal is through a set piece or a pk....thats pretty sad.

I also want to mention the fact that Samp are no world beaters either...Cassano is the best player they got, and the likes of Pazzini are grossly overrated. We should have won this game

my ratings-

Buffon 6- cant be blamed for the goal, as the defense let him down...again

Grygera 5- poor defending, and shitty coming forward

Legro 5.5- flashbacks of the 2003-04 season

Mellberg 5- at fault for the goal, no where to be found....not good enough for Juve

Molinaro 5.5- slightly better than Grygera

Camo 6- I thought he did pretty well with some decent passes, and good ball control. Still not 100% fit

Poulsen 5- did he even play ??

Tiago 6- he had a good performance, and his passes were mostly accurate. Had a decent shot from distance just miss

Neddy 6.5- ran his ass off today, and was positive out there. Had a few good shots (should have had at least one goal today)

Amauri 7- my M.O.M. he scored a perfect goal, and was as positive as he could be up front...always a threat

DP 5.5- not one of his better days...played pretty physical, but we need goals out of him. Unlucky with the free kick

subs-

Giovinco 6.5- he was all over the place, and had an immediate impact. Good ball skills, and a great assist for Amauri's goal from his cross...see Molinaro, thats how you do it !!

Marchionni 5.5- not impressed with him for anything that he does. hopefully Camo will be 100% fit soon, and we wont have to see Marchionni on the field any longer

Marchisio- N/R

RUINeri 5- should have kept Tiago in the game, and maybe now he'll think about giving Giovinco a few more chances. I cant accept that this goof is happy not winning...

Management 2- we had a chance to do something THIS season, being only a few points behind Inter, and progressing in the CL, but we will do not better. We are a few players away from winning any silverware, and we had our chance in January to make improvements, but didnt. This tells me that these clowns arent serious about winning, and they should all be replaced. I dont want to hear any more about next season, because we had our chances to do something last month, and didnt :(

Al... are you still confident that we have the best defense in the league??
Not that i am blaming them for that vertical pass that pierced our offside trap.
This is not why i am asking this now.
But it the past matches the absence of Chiellini have proved more aspects of their real value. We have seen enough to come up with a safe conclusion before he returns and mask those issues again.

All ratings are good but i dont agree about Amauri he has 2-3 good balls from Del Piero when he just needed to move his leg and he would score.

Another parallel from Madrid..they won convincingly against Gijon today and are 10 points behind Barca n they still talk of a title chance!

Inter are not as dominant in the Serie A as Barca r in Spain..n we are 'just' 7 points behind 'em...mebbe...just medde

Hi, I'm new on this website even thought I had read you a cupple of time before. Obviously, I think Ranieri wouldn't have put Gio in if Iaquinta was on the bench, he would have opt for a three man attack with him - I just can't think of us being a threat that way, without Camo and Gio -. Hopefully, that wasn't the case. And I just didn't understand why he made that useless substitution in the 88th minutes ! it just breaks up the momentum we had... However, apart from that, Giovinco's substitution was great (...), and Camoranesi's one too (he looked tired). Ranieri didn't seem to have improved.. It just makes me angry, 'cause the tiago's subtitution only means he was happy with that result.

Our attack and midfield was very good, but our defense was terrific... legrottaglie looked clumsy and couldn't handled Cassano. Molinaro had problems when it come to track back (being out of position a few times or simply being lazy to come back to help defense), and he should have used the energie he spent with his foward runs - who simply doesn't have any impacts - to help the defense. He still has improved since last year. However, I think that we have shown a good spirit... It remembers me the one we seemed to have in november. Just hope the team will go on like that.
