Since you are a Diego fan, what do you think of my suggestion to move Diego back into the center? Check my posts in this thread to see what I mean, to lazy to type it again now:D
I like it, seriously Diego is suffering heavily at the moment arguably the one who is suffering the most in the team, granted his ability that is. Like I just wrote move him abit deeper and if you have Del Piero and Giovinco infront of him he actually has options and is not always holding onto the ball so long that 4 players come round him and he goes does. I'm sorry but if you were Diego when you had Ozil and Pizzaro who were very good players off the ball who always moved well infront of him as options it was bliss for him. Now he gets the ball looks up only Amauri there crowded out, looks back and see's Sali and Marchisio running he's got no chance.

Diego

Gio-Del

Amauri.

That would work perfectly in my opinion. Shame Ciro would not employ it.

I have to admit Sab though that I've got a soft spot for Melo to so he would take over from Poulsen in that lineup.

Having Melo-Marchisio together Melo gets freedom and Marchisio can do what he does best and disrupts play. We can kid ourselves to the cows come home we should be employing the 4-4-2 but in our condition we might aswell go all out attack. We did not have our best performances employ such an attacking formation for no reason. Times have changed Juventus have better attacking players than they do defensive ones so why play to our weakness?

I've never wished a defeat on Juventus but the way we played at times this season its made me rather sad. Last game against Parma was soul destroying. As much as I love beating Milan I'd rather them do us a favour and get Ciro sacked because I cannot take seeing such formations employed by us. One shot on goal in a full 90 minutes that really is not entertainment.

He wasn't bad at all. He was our best central midfielder overall against Parma. If someone deserves to be dropped, then it's undoubtedly Melo.

I can't understand why people keep criticizing him just for the sake of it.
:agree:

Not a 4-4-1-1 please. This is embarrassing.
This formation took us to the Champions League Final and won us the league in 2003.

Manninger
Canna Chiellini
Grygera ..................................Grosso
Poulsen .......Marchisio
Diego
Giovinco ...............Del Piero
Amauri

Are you serious? Del piero can't play on the wing no more, not at this age. I'm guessing you didn't see the match against Maccabi Haifa.

look at leonardo. he has found the best place for every player in his starting 11. formation is not important, at least not as important, than playing our best players in the position, where they can give their best.

marchisio on the left? just WTF??? if frosso is not good enough than why did we buy him???

marchisio´s place is in the middle, beside melo. FFS!!

Milan's weakness? Their fullbacks and the lack of pace.

How do we exploit that?

Manninger
Grygera Cannavaro Chiellini Grosso
Giovinco Marchisio Melo De Ceglie
Diego
Amauri

If everybody moved back to cover gaps we'll just return to playing in our own area.

With that formation, Del Piero/Diego/Giovinco would all have to be able to work together to rotate positions and not just keep to the same area, switching flanks etc. I think it would work over time (something which we don't have), but the whole team has to contribute off the ball and start to think intelligently when they attack, not keep to the same shape no matter where the ball is.

1. actually wrong.... we played 4-3-1-2 in that 02/03 season. Nedved played in the hole when we attaced, not on the left. He only covered on the left when we lost the ball to give balance to the team. Not that he had too with the pitbull and alessio rummaging for scraps behind him :touched:

2. I don't think Sab is suggesting he plays on the wing. I think she mean him & gio play like the 2 in a 4-3-2-1. What i think she is suggesting is a 4-2-1-2-1. which i think may work well and i would love to see it tried.
