if you look at it in a vacuum, ronaldo wasn't a bad signing.

it was a bad signing because of the incompetent management in place. you don't sign ronaldo just to play ramseys and rabiots behind him, and you don't sign ronaldo if you can't afford him under any circumstances. but ronaldo has nothing to do with the incompetence of our management.
In fairness when we signed them Ramsey was actually pretty good for Arsenal and a prolific scorer and Rabiot was wanted by the likes of Barcelona when he was available.

I don't think the overall performance was too bad. We limited them to only one decent chance all game where Zapata needed a brilliant shot to score. Biggest problem for me is sharpness in attacking positions. Both Chiesa and McKennie could have done better when they were basically through on goal but just weren't quite decisive enough in getting the shot away. I don't think there was a massive difference in the overall performance between this game and the Lazio game for example.

I think defensively apart from some lapses in concentration we are showing good signs of improvement, now we just somehow need to get this group of players to somehow execute on the attacking end of the pitch. Morata to the rescue.
I saw the game live and from the stands it looked terrible. After Zapata's goal Atalanta was satisfied with the result and they decided against going punch for punch because it was more risky. Juventus on the other was absolutely clueless in attack. The players weren't running at all.

Yeah, it looks like they don't work on offensive part at all. The play is too slow and even then the players make a lot of technical mistakes. Crosses to nobody are a true cherry on the cake.

I also think Juve were very poor during this game, one could never have the feeling we'd eventually get back into the game.

When it rains it pours.
