Shocking!!! the only thing more dissappointing than the team's flat performance was that of ranieri. His choice of tactics & personal leaves a lot to be desired. yes we're playing that other bunch of individuals on saturday & after all the talk about let's not focus on that game, it was there for all to see that is what he was soley focused on. Resting the likes of sissokko & trezeguet, while deploying english styled long ball tactics that did not suite any of the players on display, showed his incompetence to lead such a great team back to glory. I tink this is one of those times where he shuould have stuck instead of twist & retain his formation and team from sunday.

But onto the match itself...

His tatctics for tonights game left more than a lot to be desired especially after last saturday. Going back to his stereotypically boring 4-4-2 he decided for some reason that long balls were the best way to attack an empoli defense who just dropped off and allowed us to collect the ball (only in the wide positions).

I thought maybe the halftime break wud have brought a change but he stuck to his guns and yes, we did get a little joy from them at the start of the second half but we were still unable to fashion any chances from it.

But for the team he put out on the field, this was not the way to play (IMO)...especially for a midfield of tiago and nocerino, both of whom prefer the ball at thier feet as opposed to flying over their heads. This does not take away from the fact that tiago had a very poor showing after his good work on saturday.

The game overall was stretched far too much with our defense playing midway into our half & their denfense not too far off their penalty area. This left our midfield with far to much to work to do tryin to join attacks and then funnel back to help the defence once we lost possession.

My only other greviance was the perfomance from the captain. Now, as big a DP fan that i am (and about to commit mortal sin by bad mouthing him), during the past 2 games i think he has been holding onto the ball for too long, esp when he has his back to goal, when he has simple passes to make early to forward running midfielders.

The game was boring, flat and void of any creativity due to incompetent tactics. To thos who look at the half filled cup and say at least we gained a point on milan and the viola i look at the half emptied glass as 2 points dropped. but we got what we deserved. Credit to empoli who playd a good game & deserved their point against an abysmal juve team.

At least we kept a clean sheet.

Overall our team was poor but they were probably looking to the Inter game a bit?

It is ridiculous to think that our Starting line up in Serie A is hardly any better than it was in Serie B. It is clear to everyone know the difference in class between Sissoko and the rest of our mids so I expect Nocerino or Tiago to never play again hahahah.

We really could use Lampard couldn't we?

At least we gained a point over Both Fiorentina and Milan. This is very important and other than this we should forget about this game right away.
3rd in a row ;)

Why thank you my friend :pint:

Hopefully we`ll not get outplayed by Inter this weekend.

I want to hear Ranieri`s comments here.

There are always excuses btw...it like "we didn`t win because we rested players for Inter" or its "we are friendly with Empoli and we didn`t want to win"

But the truth is that we are crap this year but hopefully we`ll stay at third position.

Shit,
I am not sure if that is exactly resting players. But we sucked big time and this is what I know for sure. We could not create a single chance, total lack of imagination, bad passes, disconnected build-up...
Inter went from bad to worse but they would whoop our asses easily if we play a game like this against them.
One Ranieri is a goner. But I should seriously reconsider creating some additional payroll by firing at least 5 players this summer. Salihamidzic I am not sure even Reggina would like to buy him. He S-U-C-K-S. Tiago and the 10 mln. missed pounds that is a story Secco must be held responsible for. Hate to watch a games like that - getting sick even by the thoughts of Juve participating.

beating Empoli would have set us up nicely. a win here would provide us with a strong cushion, given that fiorentina and milan lost. and we probably wont win this weekend, so it would have done very nicely.

ranieri's tactics are min boggling sometimes. he says that we are focusing on the win, yet we all saw tonight we didnt care much for the game or the points. a lot of long balls that were unessecary and proved why need some creativity, which can link our attacks together. but if ranieri gets his way, we will have pies lampard.

Ratings:

Buffon: -6- nothing to do, solid when called upon, though. (to throw the ball :D).

Zebina: -7- solid match had no real difficulties in defence and got forward well.

Legrotaglie: -7- same as zebina, the entire defence was preety good tonight.

Chiellini: -7- same as legro, he was good.

Molinaro: -6- stupid yellow, didnt stay on long enough to judge.

Camoranesi: -7- had an okay match tried to run things in attack, but not much came from the other players.

Nocerino: -5/6- preety poor as usual. like i said before, he needs to sit on the bench and LEARN from someone with great experience and skill. he doesnt have a clue about what he was doing.

Tiago: -5/6- you can put it down to his lack of game time, but he was poor in passing and attacking wise. he was our only attacking central player but he added very very little.

Salihamidzic: -5/6- didnt really do anything at all. he is frustrating to watch and i have noticed that every time i watch him, he gives away so many fouls.

Del Piero: -5/6- pretty poor all evening. didnt do much and didnt do aswell as he shold have done. he didnt get much service to help him, but still did bery little.

Iaquinta: -5/6- again poor. he provides us with great things coming from the bench but with DP he was pretty drab.

Subs:

Grygera(6) not bad but his performance against genoa was a fluke most likely.

Trezeguet(5) invisible as he often is nowadays.

Nedved(6) when he came on seemed to be wanting to win. should have started.

Ranieri: -1-4- bad bad decisions. he chose to play tiago with nocerino who adds no defensive qualities or attacking for that matter. played him alongside tiago who needs to boost his performances, but nocerino is far from a supportive midfielder who has the know how.

furthermore, he must have told the players that whoever can kick it furthest from their own half gets a shiny new euro. long ball, the masters tactic. his subs came in too late and he just seemed to be taking players out for the sake of it, rather than based on their performances.

luckily for him(unlucky for us), all the other tams played crap around us. but this doesnt set us up well for the weekend.

Forza Juve.

Looking at our match against Empoli... (Big difference between Genoa and Empoli )

Ye they did have one player down (Inter)...
That was one deserve red-card. Not to mention it's part of football, you commit lot of fouls you pay for that.

Inter were owned, I don't know about us didn't watch the game but Inter didn't deserve the draw.

They really don't scare me TBH.

me neither, but you cant takea chance, we have to be realists. we want CL, we cant risk that by chasing stupid dreams of the scudetto.

I think we shouldn't aim for the CL nor keep dreaming of the Scud....Play each game to win, get as much points as we can and we'll see where we'll end up.

IMO, If we keep looking who is behind us, who knows it might cost us at the end of the season.

And If we keep thinking that our Scud dream is over like today for example Inter drawing and instead of grabbing 3points making it 10 points diff, we blew it.

Like Del Piero and Buffon said, play each game as a final and we'll see where we'll end up.

I haven't been able to see a Juventus match for a few games now but I must admit that after reading post match comments, part of me is thankful I haven't. Looks like a blood bath.

So why the hell did or coach rest players? 3 points from Empoli are just as valuable as they are from Inter, no? And they shold be easier to get from Empoli...well at least with a proper starting XI.

People still dreaming about the Scudetto need to wake up and look at the reality, which now looks like we dropped 2 winnable points and what should have been a secured Cl Qualification spot.
