This performance can be summed up in 1 word: clueless.
Don't get me wrong, our organisation was more than decent & our general approach to the game wasn't that bad. But whenever we had to create something for ourselves we just failed miserably.
Just look at the 2nd half. We attacked the whole time, piled the pressure on them, yet we created pretty much nothing. It really does not get any more telling.
Buffon 6 - Good save at the beginning of the game & he read the play well, coming out of his area when necessary. If he were on top form he would have saved that shot though.
Grygera 5,5 - Not too troubled at the back, uninvolved for the rest.
Cannavaro 6 - Good performance, nothing special
Chiellini 6 - Pretty comfortable game, his attacking contributions in the 2nd half left a lot to be desired though.
Grosso 5,5 - Typical game by his standards.
Marchisio 6,5 - By far our best player in the 1st half, ok in the 2nd.
Melo 6 - Did his job, nothing more, nothing less.
De Ceglie 5 - I'm afraid the Napoli game was a fluke. Went back to being rather useless.
Diego 5 - Pretty poor. Didn't do much except for drawing fouls. One of the reasons why we were so clueless yesterday.
Del Piero 4 - Bad game. Counltess lost balls, delivered very little.
Paolucci 5,5 - Was eager to impress, as was to be expected. Our liveliest attacking player & the only one who looked a bit dangerous. Couldn't really get into the game in the 2nd half though.
Zebina 5,5 - No improvement over Grygera.
Salihamidzic 5,5 - No improvement over Grosso.
