I thought Juve managed exremely well given the circumstances. What can you possibly expect after being a man down with 80 mins left to play? Ranieri was very conservative towards the end, I was hoping for a more attacking change. But I was impressed with the grit we showed at the end.

i was talking more their mental set up, rather than what they have on paper
Yet they did manage to win last year's Scudetto as well, when Mancini was in charge... If they had a loser mentality they'd have choked on the last day last season... they didn't... The biggest choker of 'em all scored...

All that bashing and Ranieri still gets a 4? :D
Pretty much spot on except that Tiago deserves as many points as Sissoko today...
Iaquinta saved him. Otherwise I would have given him much more less.

ah common last season's scudetti race was a 1 horse race all along, and they almost did choke, only for roma to be a bigger choker themselves.

Our performance was to be expected really. I was having flashbacks of the home loss to Palermo, so I thought a tie was going to be our best result.

The starting lineup was a surprise, but given Del Piero played over 120 minutes in midweek, it's understandable to start Iaquinta. Tiago probably wasn't 100% match fit, but there was no other alternative. He did a fairly good job. The early sending off really undermined his role on the pitch, but he adapted and changed his style/approach and put in a decent performance.

As for our other returnee, finally! Camo is soo much smoother with the ball than any1 else on the pitch. The timing of his comeback couldn't be better considering the way we have been playing over the last few weeks. Coupled with Tiago, it's safe to assume we will see much more intelliegent team play in the weeks to follow.

Speaking of intelligent team play courtesy of Tiago and Camo, it will prevent Momo from trying certain things. He is not getting rid of the ball quick enough, and he constantly dribbles himself into the most awkward positions, where to avoid losing possession, his only options are to try and play the ball out off the player, or win a foul. Despite these shortcomings, he makes up for it with his workrate and aggression, and his match rating will sky rocket in my books if he solely focuses on the things he is better at and leaves the rest to players like Tiago and Camo.

I thought this was 1 of Nedved's better games this season. He had more spring in his step and wasn't nearly as predictable in his movements both with and without the ball in comparison to the rest of the season.

Iaquinta, wtf. It was early in the 1st half, it's not as if u scored the game winner in injury time. His celebration was completely overboard and it was a foolish yellow to take. With that that said, the 2nd yellow was harsh, and I think the ref had this in mind when he failed to award an obvious handball by Marchionni.

Amauri, did as well as he could. He was alone upfront, and had anywhere from 3-5 to players shadowing him constantly. He still managed to keep the Catania defence on their toes and won us some important corners/throw ins high up the pitch.

Our defense was our weakest area today, again. Molinaro was the only 1 who looked remotely assured in defence. The rest were giving away silly fouls, clearing the ball poorly, and constantly losing their tactical discpline by wandering into places they shouldn't have been or falling for the most basic offensive plays and opening up space.

Thank you Poulsen, Forza Juve!

cut the crap.....Ranieri wouldnt win even with Inter. The guy was with Chelsea you know, loads of money, loads of talent, beaten by the mighty Monaco in CL, and never looked like title contenders in epl, his best finish was 2nd, and then also something like 15p from Arsenal.

Ranieri said:
“Trezeguet just came back from injury and played for an hour on Wednesday,” he explained, “while Del Piero was coming off two positive games and with an important series of matches coming up, I feel it’s important to keep everyone on their toes.”
This guy is just fuckin' confuzing! He benches DP, but not Nedved??? :shifty: :howler: :wallbang: :rofl2: :yuck:

First off, if anyone decided to praise Ranieri for his tactical nouse or telepathic genius with the Poulsen substitution, please don't humiliate or embarass yourselves, because that would clearly show your ignorance towards anything related to football. Ranieri deserves no credit, because he is a coward, refuses to change his formation, and brought on a defensive midfielder to try and salvage a point, rather than throwing on Alex, Gio, or even Trez to try and go all out for the 3 points like any ambitious coach who harbors ambitions of winning titles would have done. No ideas, predictability, and refusal to gamble and take risks. That is all Ranieri typifies. Plain and simple, Ranieri is a douchebag who lacks guts, and has zero tactical knowledge of the game, and that is why all he can ever hope to win are some mickey mouse coppa italias, or the suck me till I am dry annual porn promo cup.

The defense, yet again, looked clueless and out of sorts. We can't keep relying on Buffon to bail us out, or on individual performances forever. Eventually, our luck will run out, and we will be found out. Make no mistake about it, we were extremely lucky today.

Our midfield seemed like a comatose patient, uninventive, lacking in creativity, and simply unable to do anything in the face of the Catania onslaught, especially @ the beginning of the 2nd half, when they were all over us.

As for the attack, or what was left of it after Iaquinta's stupidity, all that can be said is that Amauri set up the 2nd goal, providing the assist for Poulsen. Considering the mediocre level of service from our midfield, I would say that Amauri did quite well.

My ratings for the game:

Buffon: 7.5 partially responsible for the goal, as he was slightly off his line and the goal would've been avoided had he been a couple of steps back. Other than that, we would've lost this game by 2 clear goals, had it not been for him. MOM.

Grygera: 4 His only, solitary contribution was that which allowed the opposition to equalize. Enough said.

Legrottaglie: 4.5 Slow, constantly caught out of position, and outpaced on numerous occasions Lucky not to concede a penalty.

Mellberg: 4.5 Same as above, bar the threat of conceding a penalty.

Molinaro: 5 Plain average. Didn't really contribute much, but was the best performer in a very mediocre backline, which is not saying much.

Camoranesi: 6.5 lively, inspired, and provided the assist for our 1st goal. Had to come off early in the 2nd half, possibly due to fatigue.

Sissoko: 5 Risked being sent off for too many late challenges. Rash and aggressive at times.

Tiago: 5.5 Tried taking a couple of long range shots, and came more into the game late in the 2nd period. Was substituted by Ranieri, just as he was starting to become more involved.

Nedved: 5 Yet another forgettable performace, bar one or two occasions.

Iaquinta: 5 His score would have been much lower, had it not been for the goal. Put his team in a world of trouble after stupidly being sent off.

Amauri: 5 Tried to hold up the ball, and make the most of the chances he got, which were few and far betwee. Set up Poulsen for the winning goal.

Marchionni: 4.5 Crap, Crap, Crap. Lucky not to concede a penalty for attempting to play handball in our penalty area. Contributed little going forward, and could have cost us the game. Fartio Fuckionni must be benched, forever!!!

Poulsen: 6 Came on really late in the game, and scored the winning goal.

Ranieri: 4 Refuses to take risks, doesn't have the guts to alter his beloved 4-4-2 formation, and lacks the tactical knowledge and in game intelligence to ever be considered a winning coach. Very limited and lacking in flexibility.
i didn't get to watch the match but by reading your report it seems like another typical juve performance where we squeak by with 3pts somehow

and you are correct about ranieri, he is a coward and he is far too "old school" in his approach and techniques. he needs to adjust accordingly instead of incessantly trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

inter minus mourinho are mentally a bunch of losers

im not even remotely defending ranieri for a second so dont even know why you're attacking me on the same point we've agreed on.
