Another day, another win, ehh?
I believe Lippi was planning to rest Alex and Neddy for the trip to Deportivo but since Milan won the derby last night the pressure was on us and Roma to deilver and close the gap again. A slip-up would be suicidal at this stage of the season, so that's why I think Lippi opted for the best possible line-up and put the Deportivo match aside, for now at least.
That plan paid dividents as we controlled the ball and looked more comfortable for large integrals of the match. Our key to winning was our midfield, it was highly concentrated and had a good day. Incidentlly, Tacchi wasn't there.
Conte was great while Maresca had another good match, especially in the first half. Camoranesi gave us glimpses of his fantastic and peotic touches a la Zidane. His run-in on opponents was also fasinating to watch. I love it when lil' Camo is on top-form. Sadly, that couldn't be said of Neddy. To make matters worse, he got booked and now misses the next match.
Alex has a disappointing first half but quickly bounced back in a more lively second half. His nicely struck free-kick was going in anyway, and that's what Alex was arguing (jokingly) with a celebrating Iuliano. Di Vaio tried hard but had a frustrating time missing chances. Miccoli didn't really add much to our game when he was introduced just before the goal was scored.
Our defence kept another clean sheet (and believe it or not, not-so-popular Iuliano and Montero were at the back to protect Buffon. But it must be said that Bologna's forwards also had a bad day and that had something to do with it (clean sheet). Also Buffon was there whenever needed.
Don't be upset with Mialn's win against Inter. The most important thing is that we keep on winning, even in big matches. Eventually, Milan and Roma will drop points.
