the whole game the commentator was saying how buffon's biggest worry was how to stay warm and how he should be feeling guilty for taking this weeks pay check and buffon does this :lazy:

Yup, and just a few momments before the goal. I guess now he'll feel even more guilty:D

I think atleast he made a blunder that didn't make much difference in the end, its not the easiest thing to do to stay alarmed while you barely toach the ball for 90minutes.

Anyhow, our team didn't look that good, we didn't mangage to build a decent attack. Just one counter attack which Olivera finished brilliantly, but other than that? Only a few Zambrotta runs and crosses.
This looks bad for our midweek clash against Sampdoria.

I see three great things that came out of this match:

1. Olivera's counter-attack finish. Whoah! Finally! I've been lamenting on how we've been so anemic on the counter-attack this season -- how no team fears our speed nor upfield passing nor finishing in counter-attack situations ... and with good reason. It's nice to see real progress there.

2. DP's game-winning PK. I fully support Capello's decision not to start DP of late because, well, his form really hasn't been there. But we really need him in good form. We need his leadership and his inspiration for the team. Hopefully this is one step on his way towards the kind of major turnaround that Vieri has been on of late.

The fact is that while we may have a better point tally than Milan over the past few weeks, our offensive form has hardly recovered much at all since all our worries at the start of the winter break. :frown:

3. Buffon's howler. Now I know this isn't exactly the kind of thing you'd want to celebrate. But all goalies have their howlers from time-to-time. And as a team, withour 8 point lead, I think this was symbolic as a warning for the perils of overconfidence and losing our focus. And if you're going to get out your howlers and have a reminder of how taking your focus off can kill you, it's best to have those lessons in situations where it doesn't eventually change the game's outcome.

Forza Juve!

Not a bad match today, however not a great one either. I would not say we dominated the match, however we did not look inferior by any stretch. The midfield and the defense looked very solid today, and the only way Atalanta was going to get a goal on the board was if we put the ball in our own net for them, which unfortunately happened. I am not that mad at Capello for the tactics he used, especially since we were without Nedved and Blasi, however Tacchinardi was solid and Olivera filled in nicely for Nedved. Actually no, Olivera's performance just as good as a Nedved performance today. The scoreline is obviously decieving, and it should have ended up 2-0, only if Buffon would have just picked the ball up. We still have work to do offensively though, and Capello will be working on this as we get closer to the Real Madrid match. Personally I see a form improvement from the team in the upcoming weeks before the titanic clash against Real.

Buffon did not have much to do, except punch a few incoming balls out of danger. That was one of his worst performances all season, allbeit because of that mistake. I wish he would have just picked the ball up...

Zebina looked good today, and did not make many mistakes. Hopefully he is getting better, but again it was the worst team in Serie A today...

Thuram was arguably our best player, and made a lot of good tackles and clearing headers. He keeps showing that he is one of the top three defenders in the world. I blame his own goal on Buffon because he should have picked up the ball; it was not an intentional back pass.

Cannavaro was solid as always, another good match.

Zambrotta made some very nice runs up the pitch, especially in the first half, and he combined well with Olivera. He was skipping past Atalanta defenders like they were high school players in some cases.

Camoranesi was alright, however he still gives the ball away too much for my liking. He does create lots of good opportunities, so in a way it makes up for his bad passes in the middle of the pitch. He needs to improve in that respect in time for the Real match.

Emerson was a beast in midfield, as always, and his passing is supurb for a midfield destoyer. He might be our most important player this season.

Tacchinardi was solid in midfield today, and looked good stepping in for Blasi. I would surely choose him over Appiah anyday of the week.

Olivera was our best player in the first half, no question. His touches were supub, his passing was good, and his link up play on the left was fantastic. His goal was from a man who does not lack confidence and is ready to take a major role in our team. I say it again, Olivera has a bright future with Juventus, and he deserves a starting role with the team.

Trezeguet did not do much except for a good shot in the first half, however he did seem to be moving a lot.

Zlatan did not do much either, however he held the ball up like always. He also showed great restraint in not retaliating against the Mike Tyson wannabe Natale. Good move by Capello taking him off and giving him a well-needed rest.

Del Piero did not do much, however he scored the penality which actually was the winning goal. Even though he did not do much apart from the pk, that's good enough for me today.

In this game Olivera demonstrated once more is quality and capacity to take Nedved role (not an easy task). He is very secure conducting the ball, he is fast and he is a good at passing the ball and also a very good definitor.
As every other game, the lung of the team is Emerson. If we are on top of the league is , in grand part, because of him.
Camo has become and important factor for the gameplay and contributing also defensevely...he is having a good season

Buffon, well...better to shit it now than latter in the season, were mistakes can become fatal...

well I think Olivera, as good as he was yesterday fits in better at midfield, although with our formation yesterday, it looks like zambo runs the flanks with tacchi covering.

thx for the ratings!

I agree, I also think that we slowly getting down on form again and we also bring in more solidity than before the Brescia match! But still we only played Atalanta a weak Side in Serie A, but still these are important matches and as it showed this could be big points as Milan lost!

I think that there is still work to do if we want to win something this year! Real is also getting on form and I hope we can also step up 1-2 gears! But therefor i think Capello knows how to handle the team!!

anyway 3 points more, forza Juve!
we can not play passing games on this pitch.. in such games, a top team has just to win.. it is not important how!!

I think that the Buffon howler made him a even better keeper! Cos now he knows that he shouldn't take things lightly, even if we r winning. However I think that this howler makes Buffon an even stronger keeper than ever.

We fought hard to earn the precious 3 points, even though I would say it wasn't spectecular, but I can say that Tacchinardi did play a good game, and I would like him to start ahead of Appiah in case Blasi is injured again.

I repeat about Buffon: Nobody's perfect

he made a mistake where it made no difference......can anyone remember when was the last time he made a mistake before that....I guess not
