Having thought about that formation now I think it makes sense. We have struggled defending the flanks and Lazio have some dangerous wide players. Mandzukic and Cuadrado both track back to help the fullbacks.

Fair enough. I still see all of Bonucci, Barzagli and Chiellini as better than him. It's a good problem to have five quality CBs like we do.
