I would give him the first half of the season untill the WC starts. Second half of this unusual season could be a fresh start for a new coach if Allegri fails in the coming months.

Hellas Verona and Sampdoria also on a very low level this season, they used to have better squads. Serie B is luckily stacked with some nice clubs, hopefully the will promote to A.
