Crazy idea, but i expect Inter’s title defense to be worse than Liverpool’s. Actually wont be surprised if they end outside of the top 4. Expect Roma to take their place.

So I've been reviewing the clubs in Serie A for awhile now and I have to say the fall of Inter could be stunning. You might raise an eyebrow at me putting them at 10th to finish the year but to put it into perspective think about this possible starting elevent for Genoa.
Dzeko and Pinamonti up front to start with Martinez having muscular problems and Sanchez on the bench. This is no stunning attack, maybe Dzeko 2-3 years ago but this is a very sad attack in my opinion. Potential to poach goals but very little potential to create stunning chances. Martinez obviously alongside Dzeko improves things but Dzeko is no Lukaku.
Midfield of Calhanoglu, Brozovic, and Barella. Good but not great, the strengths and weaknesses of each player are well-known and while there is potential for moments of class from all three, none of them are worldbeaters or elite level talent. Barella had that possibility but I think even that is gone now. Dependable but not elite. On the bench will be Vidal, Vecino, Sensi, and Perisic with Gagliardini and Eriksen out hurt.
Wingbacks will be Dimarco and Dumfries. What a fall from grace this group will have. From Hakimi to Dumfries, this group has lost a lot in attack and gained nothing in defense. Lazaro, Perisic, D'Ambrosio, Darmian, Kolarov isn't the group of names to inspire confidence in the wide play for this team. And with three at the back, the strength of attacking MUST come from wideplay and magic from the midfield. The midfield doesn't have the consistent magic player and this wideplay will be embarrassingly average.
Three at the back also has the strength of the club in terms of quality. Skriniar, Bastoni, de Vrij will be the starting three whenever healthy with Ranocchia, Kolarov to come off the bench and spot start. But the depth is VERY shakey and that is worrisome for a backline that has struggled the last few years with injuries. Any one of those starters go down and you've either got the brainless (Ranocchia) or a converted fullback playing as your third.
Goaltending sees Handanovic who is no longer considered to be worldclass but is good. His best days are gone and he has struggled the last few seasons. Crazy how at 37 he looks worse than Buffon at 43.
This team has replaced strength with average almost across the entire board. A dire situation that might get worse if the sale of more players goes through. If Martinez leaves, consider this club midtable at best for the next year or two possibly. They cannot keep a hold of their centerbacks if anybody of any size in Europe comes calling. Skriniar or Bastoni to an EPL or Bundesliga club (Skriniar to Germany specifically) could be a very really possibility in my opinion within the next 12-18 months.
