AC Milan is having a season a lot like Sarri’s season here.
Inter has best goal differential in the league by quite a margin, +38 goals, because they blow out a lot of teams, but Inzaghi just isn’t getting it done in the close matches. In third place now exclusively because of that.
Sarri’s season we had the 4th best goal differential in the league at +34 (Pirlo even did better than this). Atalanta +50, Inter +45, Lazio +37 were all better. But we won the league because we managed to grind out a lot of 1 goal wins.
Which just goes to show that dominating a bunch of matcues with thrashings like so many are obsessed with does not necessarily mean success. Over a 38 match league campaign if you can’t grind out wins in the tight matches, and there will be lots, you won’t win.
