The league has to be finished even if it means pushing back next season by a few months.

Shorter winter break and less stupid international friendleys. More midweek games.

Starting a new season without finishing the previous one is just too fucked up for me. This season needs to be completed one way or another.

I'm sure that's a big part of why they aren't saying anything publicly.

But if it turns out football could be played in June/July to complete the season, I don't think the TV companies would be very impressed if the football authorities decided against playing out the season.

unless you completely isolate players and staff from the public (which is impossible), you can't guarantee the player's safety. as football is basically a contact sport, i don't see the league restarting anytime soon. this pandemic will last for an other couple of months. i guess they'd reopen factories, stores, open markets (places where you can keep distance and wear protecting clothing) sooner than stadiums and pitches.

You'd have to have social distancing ended.

You'd probably also have to be allowing gatherings of a few hundred people, because even 'closed door' games have to have quite a lot of people about.

For a while. But we can't say we haven't tried to address the issue with Ramsay and Rabiot. Hopefully our bad streak with reinforcements runs out.

It’s quite simply not going to happen.

The calender year? Can imagine games being played in empty stadiums, but can't imagine football shutting down entirely for that long.

I can’t see any games being played at all for the rest of the year.

I'm not at that point yet, but every day/week that goes by makes it harder to see this season finish in anything vaguely resembling a normal fashion.


But it wouldn't take much (a secondary spike in infection rates in China, for example, as they try to ease restrictions) to make me re-think my current position.
