Maybe this is their new strategy, de Rossi and Nainggolan coming out and saying "This is Romas year, we'll go for Scudetto" clearly doesn't work 
This summer spending spree was for one purpose Champions League - The only destination we havent conquered yet (since 96)
It's kind of obvious at this point when you have a look at the standings. Everyone trying to find their rhythm and struggling big time despite strengthening a lot. Only Juve has a perfect start and all of that happening with misfiring Ronaldo and in general by "playing shitty and the most boring football".
So the difference is whether you can keep on winning despite being in not the best condition. We can do that and we've got an immense depth too. We're getting farther and farther away from the rest of the Serie A but that's because of ambition to finally win the CL.
As for Roma, they made too many changes IMO and I'd be surprised if they can get above 4th place this year.
