Can someone explain to me why Napoli are holding Sarri against his will? Did he do something to upset them?
And how is this even legal ot just seems like spitefulness on Napoli's part

he still has a running contract which is yet to be terminated. any club can have multiple coaches on its payroll*, so it's completely legal. sarri probably upset adl by not responding to the president's request (will he stay or not for next season) until the deadline adl gave, so adl is just being the gentleman he usually is, and giving his former coach a lesson. also, sarri had a release clause of 8m which expired, still, adl is trying to milk chelsea by holding on to the coach. rumors said a couple of weeks ago that chelsea agreed to pay 5m to napoli, so the situation might be settled soon.

*dunno if it's true, but i heard that after they started to fire coaches for fun, but refused to pay the severance payments to their coaches, milan had 4 guys (seedorf, mihajlovic, inzaghi and montella) on their payroll :baus:

Well technically Sarri is still on Napoli's pay roll even if he has been 'sacked' thing is like many clubs it's cheaper for the club to let the contracts run out and continue paying their wages than paying the exit clause. In Sarri's case napoli are playing hard ball by saying if anyone wants him, you pay for his exit clause which is quite the right thing to do.

I'm guessing that Sarri's contract did not include the stipulation that he must be head coach. So Napoli basically still own him.

According to FI, which is reporting according to Reuters, Elliott management will take over Milan soon. But I can't find the original story in Reuters website.

“We’re not thinking about any signings when we don’t know what resources we have available,” Mirabelli explained to Sky.

“It’s a little bit like when you’re hungry and you’re out of the house, you open your wallet and look inside before deciding whether to go for a sandwich or whether you can go to the restaurant for caviar and champagne."
