That's how it works. If the main referee asks for VAR's help, then the VAR makes the decision. If the VAR recommends to the main ref to review an incident, then the main ref watches the replay and makes the decision.
Have you seen the bayern Munich and leverkusen game? You think that situation was because ref asked VAR for help? Because he talked to them, then they told him from screen it was pk (imo suspicious dive), he didn't look at all a screen.

Imo an improvement for sure, taking a second look at a situation WILL minimize the mistakes, it's almost guaranteed, but people are too busy bitching for no reason.

Only downside is how long it takes indeed, the Milan games first half overtime? 4 minutes because of one single Var use.

Yeah. The controversy in Italian football won't miraculously disappear. We all watch the same things and we sometimes see them differently. One member above thought that it was a penalty for Fiorentina, while I think it wasn't. I'm sure that some professional referees would have given a penalty, and some, like in this case, won't give it. Those 50-50 calls will still create drama in Italy... simply because it's Italy. But if not completely, then the huge mistakes from the referees will be drastically reduced.

That's how I read it is, but it could be different. Perhaps both can watch it. On FIFA's site they only say that the VAR recommends to the main ref to overview an incident, or that the main ref can ask the VAR for help. It's possible that the VAR can tell the main ref that it as a penalty and the main ref can decide to trust the VAR, without looking at the screen.

They need it badly in La Liga. Things that does Suarez and co aren't good for the face of their league that's for sure. They go overboard with that pathetic diving all the time.

How is Bonucci playing?
Quite well. He's been a reference point for those midfielders. He's starting nearly every attack built from the back (as you'd expect), and also offers a solid release valve for guys under pressure. Looks like a leader out there. Getting the ball moving efficiently, made a few standard, longer passes. Had a nice last minute intervention on a ball over the top. Almost got skinned in the first on a quick cutback, and shot that stung Donnarumma's palms. Also got a yellow on a sliding tackle a foot outside the box, that he slightly mistimed.

Hard to really judge much, considering it's Crotone and they've been down to 10 for basically the entire game. Milan will be really pleased with Bonucci's contribution though.

Not an actual test, but that team is definitely much improved. Without question.

Still can't believe he bailed. Fuck Bonucci.

That's Scuffet with a terrible positioning
He was at fault on the first goal too, wasn't ready for Inglese's near post header. Should have kept Meret and sent Scuffet to SPAL, but the Pozzos seem to have been taking notes from Preziosi at Genoa and lately have only been interested in selling players as soon as possible. They used to keep players until they developed into stars but now they sell them as soon as they can.

I see Icardi is yet again to tear the Serie A.

He's seriously a real goal machine. But not just that, it's really incredible that the guy is only 24yo.

Kinda sucks he's stuck at Inter, though. But I'm surprised there are not huge bids for him. He'd fit into many top clubs surely. Hell, he'd fit in here.
didn't inter fans wanted to get rid off him at one point, for disrespecting them lol?

Milan did not played well against 10 men Crotone in the second half. I cannot speak about the first half as I did not watched it and the early red probably changed the spirit of the game significantly.
In the second half Crotone had at least 2-3 very good opportunities to score as Milan's back side was very shaky.
Milan also did have 2-3 chances to score.
Bonucci was average as every time the ball was close to their goal he struggled the most and even got an yellow card.

So the Milan clubs both happened to open their games with a penalty given to them and we were to be equalised by a penalty descovered by the var...
So everything worked against us this time, but it was only coincidental...let's see if it will be evened out next!

They completely dominated first half, was very easy and they could scored more. Mainly due to Suso who looks freakish hard to stop for Crotone defence, and their youngster Cutrone involved in all goals. But mainly looked like a group players that trained together well all summer.

But yeah easy opponents made easier by the early red, but still very good result and overall performance. 2nd half is a wash, you barely need to care anymore after you up 3 goals and one man more.

Exactly, Os. Possession was something like 90-10 for Milan around the 35-40 minute mark.

Second half they took their foot off the gas, lacked focus. Introduced guys like Abate, Mauri, (also Silva), and they weren't engaged in the same way. A throwaway game, given the opponent and red -- but the management will be quite happy.

Kessié is a huge pickup for that midfield. Bit jealous there.
