Ferrero removed as Samp President
By Football Italia staff

Reports suggest that Massimo Ferrero has been removed as President of Sampdoria by the FIGC.

The news comes as the Samp owner failed to disclose a conviction to the league relating to the collapse of airline Livingston, which was owned at the time by holding company FG, presided upon by Ferrero.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the whole affair has dragged on for more than a year, but the league have now ruled that Ferrero cannot take up the official position of President.

In practical terms, this will make little difference as the 65-year-old will continue to be the owner of the club and will have final say on all decisions relating to Sampdoria.

What it will mean, however is that he will not be allowed to represent the club in official settings, such as at league meetings.

Should Ferrero decide not to appeal the ruling, the position of President is said to be likely to pass to a family member, but his response to the decision remains unclear at present.

I think this line says it all to me:

"What it will mean, however is that he will not be allowed to represent the club in official settings, such as at league meetings."

They cant sack him but just wont allow him to attend any FIGC related meetings? That would be another sergio face for the staff of FI.

They will sack him as a president which means he can't attend FIGC meetings.

He will still reamin their owner though.

ADL: 'Napoli not Catenaccio...'

By Football Italia staff

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis praised Coach Maurizio Sarri for not resorting to “Catenaccio tactics” against Juventus.

The Partenopei won 3-2 on the night, but went out of the Coppa Italia semi-final 5-4 on aggregate.

“I expected Napoli to play better than Juventus, which already happened on Sunday,” De Laurentiis told Rai Sport.

He was referring to a 1-1 Serie A draw at the Stadio San Paolo at the weekend.

The President then aimed a sideswipe at Juventus boss Max Allegri.

“You could sense our superiority on the field throughout. This team has heart and a Coach who is not stuck in Catenaccio tactics, but instead is a gentleman of football.”

De Laurentiis also posted this message on Twitter after the game.

"A great Napoli, a team that plays splendid football thanks to the lads and Coach! Well done, I am proud of you!"

They had more possession because we let them. Their team is weak, if Juve cared and played at a level worthy of the quality there is on the field this would be a noncontest.

:agree: And yet we didn't. When are we going to start caring? We didn't care against Lyon in the CL (we managed 4 points against them, but it could've been oh so different), against Napoli in the league, against Inter in the 1st game, against Milan in the league game at home, against Genoa away, against Fiorentina away, and these are just a few examples.

I praise Sarri too. Clever not to resort to "Catenaccio", when his team is down by two goals.
