Santa is a coca cola creation, the whole buying presents ish, the religious holiday itself is from the middle east :D
That's really scraping the barrel :p

- The story behind it is Middle Eastern
- The date probably comes from mixing Jesus' birth with Germanic solstice rituals
-Santa Claus is nothing but an adaption of St Nikolas/Sinter Claas
- Giving presents has been done before too in connection with Christmas, the only thing the US maybe added is the specific date

So you basically celebrate it a bit differently, but that's a pretty weak criteria to call a holiday original.

The US didn't add anything and what X said is downright wrong.

The date comes from mithraic tradition, the date was set by Romans who then fucked up the counting, the Santa you know and the one in the collective psyche is a 100% a coca cola creation.

The fat loveable looking old guy with white beard who only wears red, yes. But you could also find such versions before Coca Cola existed.

And Halloween is definitely American. It's their version of Samhain.

And Halloween is definitely American. It's their version of Samhain.
"It is widely believed that many Halloween traditions originated from Celtic harvest festivals which may have pagan roots, particularly the Gaelic festival Samhain, and that this festival was Christianized as Halloween."
"By 43 A.D., the Roman Empire had conquered the majority of Celtic territory. In the course of the four hundred years that they ruled the Celtic lands, two festivals of Roman origin were combined with the traditional Celtic celebration of Samhain. The first was Feralia, a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead. The second was a day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The symbol of Pomona is the apple and the incorporation of this celebration into Samhain probably explains the tradition of “bobbing” for apples that is practiced today on Halloween."
ye definitely american

Well here in Austria we have the Christkind that brings presents, but that doesn't make the whole holiday Austrian.

Halloween is probably American btw, those roots gave very little to do with today's holiday.

Of course Halloween in the modern sense is just another American holiday money spinner, but the origins are the same as many - remake after remake of some festival from a thousand or so years ago.

On topic - Sassuolo are in free fall. I wonder what kind of pressure EDF is under. He has been untouchable for so long, I'm sure Squinzi recognises their injury issues but still they should be doing much better. Peluso at LM today, christ.
