man....i could never agreeed with denco..

first of all subbing del piero for pessotto is not only for the sake of 'being defensive'.. it was done totally to neutralize Roma attacking threats. There is no way Del Piero can keep hold of Mancini.. I am pretty sure Roma would easier score with us using 433 than 442 at that stage of the match without the double padded cover on both flank...

and why del piero?...its obvious we dont need Del Piero's quality at that stage anymore...the game was chaotic..so who can keep their tactical form and steadiness would hold the edge.. we needed someone who have physical to hold the ball up and compete with the very physical Roma... In term of posession Zlatan, Del Piero and Appiah are the worst in our team. But Zlatan have the physical so he stays.....that only leaves Del Piero...

and you are being harsh on Zalayeta..i simply see him as our best forward at the moment....The is no way he deserved to be subbed, both characterwise and performanwise..... i hope he start agains Madrid..preferably at the expense of Zlatan who is very poor lately...

my only critic would be that Capello waste a substitution in Zlatan for Trezeguet... Zlatan had not been very good but the dynamic of our game at that moment would surely not allow Trezeguet to be very effective... i would prefer Capello to pour cold shower on Roma attack more by subbing Blasi for Tacchinardi.... he is more steady than Blasi..and a yellow carded Blasi is always a time bomb.

That's what I have been saying time and time again. It sounds like a lot of people wanted Roma to score just to biatch about Capello.

yet another borderline mentally challenged post from Gino....

excuses? I don't need excuses...The better team is ahead in CL and the better team played better in the first encounter...the better team is also winning matches without controversy.
Yeah... Right... Milan players are saint

I think substituting DP for Pessotto was a correct decision. However, throughout this season so far Capello DOES have the tendency to defend after leading time and time again as we've seen... And that has cost us dearly in some matches. We cannot afford to do so against Madrid. Our players are right. That game has NO room for ANY mistakes.

Oh, and such a terrible refereeing from Racalbuto. I thought he was rather weak in this match.

I agree,
DP lost the ball a couple of times at the start of second half, it was not his fault, but the juve midfielders were not going forward.
I just wondered why pessoto played in midfield, I thougt that Zambrotte will take the midfield place..

That was a smart thing. Pessotto was not warmed up yet in the field. If he was playing as a left back rather than a left midfielder he might not be ready to react well. In the left midfield he will filter the players going ot Zambrotta plus if he slips zambrotta is there to help out. Plus he has more energy to run forward.. More than Zambrotta.

Moggi Applauds Del Piero’s Fair Play
3/7/2005 1:22:00 PM
In a very tense and rough game, the Juve captain’s non-reaction towards Cufre’s slap was the highlight of the match.
That Roma-Juve would have been a very hard-fought encounter was something that was quite obvious, but that it would turn into such a battle was something of a disgrace according to the Bianconeri’s General Director Luciano Moggi.

“On the pitch it was a game of kicks. We had already warned our players during the week and invited them many times not to accept the provocations and don’t react. And so it was.”

Moggi had words of praise for Alessandro Del Piero who did not create a scene when at one point Cufre tried to provoke the Juve captain by slapping him on the face.

“Did you see what happened to Del Piero? When they say that our players are professionals apart from champions...They slapped him and he did not react, on the contrary, he responded with fair play which Cufre will not forget for a long time: he complimented his opponent for the nice gesture…”
