I think it is still early to be making calls on certain players, that is both selling, retiring or even purchasing.

For me, the team needs a playmaker, the man who can create, split defences and really spark this team. we need to build this midfield around the likes of nocerino, tiago and almiron. do we replace nedved or do we bring in a key playmaker? do we play 3 upfront or 2?

As it stands, no one knows the potential of this team as Ranieri is still tinkering his ass off until he finds the right formula.

I dont see a need for buying a young forward who is doing well in Spain when the team has Palladino and Giovinco (yes he is a midget as mentioned in previous posts, but so was Zola).

Realistically all we need another world class centre back and a playmaker...the likes of grygera, criscito, almiron and tiago just need to settle in...we have the rest already.

I agree with Adrian. Let's give Palladino and Giovinco the same chance we gave Del Piero when he was a young unknown.

I suppose the only difference in those days was that Juve had an established team which was well experienced, but without too many back ups. Hence when Baggio got injured, Del Piero was the only real replacement regardless.

Not sure what others think, but Palladino has shown a lot of potential for me..he is quick, can create, got good skills...not quite sure why Ranieri isnt using him more, although lately i think he is starting to see that he is capable.

Juve has to replace not one but two players; Del Piero and Nedved. Aguero is quite proven, (i wasnt expecting him to score as many as he is now) he has played a lot of games in Argentina and now he is in his second season at Athletico Madrid. He has definately played more games than Giovinco so at the moment Giovinco is the unproven one (free or not). I also hope that Palladino becomes a Juve great but I expect him to fill Trezequet's boots not DP or Neddy's. Juve needs some penetration in the attack and sooner or later money has to be splashed, it better be when the players are available. I hope its next summer(Quaresma or Aquero) cause thats when competition will be least as Real and Barca have full roosters.

On the basis of filling trez' boots, you see Palladino as a box striker rather than a supportive striker? Not sure how others see this but i feel Palladino is more of a supportive player...eg. del piero/iaquinta type.

As for replacing Nedved, it depends what Ranieri wants. If he is going to use a 4-3-3 then Nedved is basically replaced already with the likes of Iaquinta, Palladino and possibly Giovinco if he proves himself and becomes what we are all hoping for.

If Ranieri is wanting a 4-4-2, then yes, then definitely we need a replacement on that left side. Quaresma is unrealistic, barca, united, chelsea, Real, inter, milan, liverpool...will all be ahead of Juve for this. but the smarter decision will be to source somewhere else. Rosina would be a smart buy for example.

The other aspect of it all is buying a true playmaker. but then again, it depends on what ranieri has in mind.

For me, if Juve could keep Palladino, get Giovinco back and buy Rosina, that would be better for the building of the team than spending huge amounts of cash on one player, as im sure the big teams will be after Aguero. Then we could spend the money else where like in defence.

Juve Eye Up Aguero

Juventus are preparing a bid for Atletico Madrid’s teenage sensation Sergio Aguero, according to German website 4-4-2.com

The Argentine forward is one of the hottest young properties in world football and has made a stunning start to the current campaign, with five goals in La Liga already.

This follows on from his mesmerising displays in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in the summer when he finished top-scorer and player of the tournament as Argentina lifted the trophy.

Juventus were already interested in signing Aguero before he left Independiente in 2006, however the €20m price tag, as well as the Calciopoli crisis scuppered any chances of a deal.

The Bianconeri are now prepared to pay €22m for the 19-year-old and are also likely to throw in Portuguese flop Tiago Mendes as part of the bargain.

Juve are likely to face stiff interest from a host of other interested parties, and Valencia, Bayern Munich and Italian rivals Inter are also said to be sniffing around.

Aguero made his professional debut for Independiente at the age of just 15, and in the process became the youngest ever player to feature in the Argentine First Division.

The previous record was held by the legendary Diego Maradona, who as it happens celebrates his 47th birthday today. Happy Birthday Diego!
