Aguero is a beast, and everyone knows that.

He wouldn't look good at Athletico, if it wasn't for Forlan in large part. He can't carry an attack alone. He's certainly not going to make us a scudetto contender if we don't address our other priorities, and if we do address them, then there are more viable alternatives out there. Hypothetically, I rather have Sanchez and Inler for 45 m than Aguero alone. He's not a priority, someone like Hazard, Ribery or Nani is. They'd be cheaper than him, add dimension to our play, and do it all without us needing to spend a single euro on our attack line, if we retain our current strikers.

Nope. He just wouldn't be as effective without somebody to lead the attack. I don't think he can lead it alone. And the Del Piero comparisons are pretty sickening if you ask me. Alex did, and still does carry an attack all by himself. Aguero enjoys way much hype to be considered on that level. For me, Sanchez or Tevez would do just as well here.

thats a good one, saying he's overhyped is one thing, but then you mention hazard in the same phrase, and add ribery on top of that

first of all, what you are describing aguero like, is basically describing hazard.
He is playing very well, because he is wellsupported at lille, and can make the diffrence like that. At belgian national team however, he has shown his big potential, but so far didnt had a cracker of a game yet.
why ? because he cant carry a team alone.

ribery ? i got a friend who is a serious bayeren fan, there at every game etc. general opinion in munchen about ribery is that you can take him far to easely out of a game. bayeren also failed to domminate the league despite having a clearly better team. they do domminate when robben is fit. robben is the carry, not ribery.

Nani ? oh he's good, but he doesnt carry a team alone, and was largely dissapointing against barcelona. yet i rate him quite high.


is aguero better then all those ? offcourse not, he is very young, and had the guidance of forlan. however, in argentina and many games at athletico, he decided the game on his own behalf.
He doesnt need to lead the team, he should be a strong creative and goalscoring part of it.

I don't get why it's a problem for these players to not be a one man team.

Aguero is more of a goal scorer, so needs people to create chances/space for him.

Sanchez is more creative, so needs a striker who will move well and give him the opportunity to create for the main striker.

I also find it rather interesting that Juve have just set their sights on getting a good player for the attack, rather than looking for a particular type of player.

Yes i agree, they arent simular players, didnt mean to say that.

but they both play on the same position, with plenty of flair, and i think aguero should be a simular goalscorer.

but alex in his good days was at least on par with the best of the world, aguero wont.

No Zach, in mentioning Hazrd, Ribery and Nani, I was talking about LWs being first priority in terms of where we spend a large chunk of our transfer kitty. not as comparisons of players. You can't compare them, for their different responsibilities. My point is, an LW in the form of the abovementioned, at this point would add more to our team than an SS if Quag, Matri and co are retained. So that 45 m should not negate our priorities elsewhere on the pitch. Hope that's clearer.

Aguero would be a constant threat regardless of who else is in the team. The same cannot be said about Matri who needs good service to be effective. Kun can run at players and fashion chances for himself, so even if we played a counter-attacking system he should be effective.

So a player that has scored over a hundred goals for his club since joining 5 years ago, is only 23, still hasn't hit his peak yet and has his best years ahead of him and has 25 caps with 9 goal in a star studded national team attackline is overhyped/overrated?
