True, we don't really need to sign top defenders at the moment. Like I mentioned earlier, we have bigger core issues at hand than our full backs. Conte has a monumental task ahead of him. He has to teach pro footballers how to pass and keep possession all over again and in doing so reinstall the fighting spirit so we don't collapse.

Absolutely! Licht or Cassani are Ballon d'Or candidate when compared to Motta. They are not world beaters, but we should be set on defence. Since we were promised big signings, I expect those to be for LW and attack

There aren't even any world beaters available. In all honesty, if we sign a WC winger and striker than the next year our entire scouting system should be on the hunt for young and talented prospects for DEFENSE. We need to find our own young Kjaers, Vidic's, etc...seriously, if we can land 2 amazing players for mid/offense this summer then our entire "scouting project" should be on defenders over the next year.

I'm fairly confident in Bon-chiellini partnership if they have 2 intelligent full backs next to them not to mention pirlo acting as a pressure release valve right in front of them...we will be fine in defense if this happens AND Conte improves what I mentioned and gets the defensive line tightened up.

As much as I want Aguero, forget about him. He doesn't have the desire to come and he'll cost us 45 million. Get Sanchez for 25-30 million, he'll be cheaper, we can afford to spend more money on another quality player and Sanchez can play on so many positions and adapt to different formations whether its as a winger, a trequartista or an SS, he can do it all.

IIRC Lichtsteiner is entering his last season of the 4 year contract he signed with Lazio. Amauri too is in his last year. So, you can forget about releasing clauses because nobody will pay a 12m eur release clause for Licht in his last contract year.
You simply go with their market value and despite being 4 years older, Amauri still has a higher value, simply because strikers are always the most expensive. As someone who was always the best or one of the best 3 players in the smaller teams he was at, and as someone who comes from an excellent half season in Parma, Amauri still holds a 10-12m eur price tag, which Licht doesn't and never did.
Now, if Marotta is desperate to get rid of Amauri's wages, then he might agree on a direct swap, but you can be sure that we won't be paying any cash if we ever decide to exchange Amauri with any serie A fullback bar Maicon.

That just goes to show everyone, there aren't that many GREAT full backs out there that are available. We will settle for Ziegler and probably Licht. We need to put the focus on midfield and attack.

Licht is not worth over 8 millions, and Amauri's good track with midtable teams should make the deal Amuri for Licht +cash, but I don't think Lazio would let him go for less, and would rather keep him and trying to extend his contract next year so they can sell him later on. Players are always valued by clubs. Add to the fact we desperately need a RB, our weakest link, and that Amauri is not apart of the plan which should make us desperate to make the deal as quick as possible that would result in overpaying a bit

I agree on the Amauri wages, dumping his wages would be a huge relief
