Beppe Marotta will travel to Madrid only when the difference between Juve's offer (30-35 million) and Atletico's demand (45 million) becomes minimal.
Gazzetta

Lichtsteiner's agent, Pastorello, said yesterday that the negotiations between Marotta and Lotito were really tough because the Lazio owner is a skillful negotiator while Marotta is a real pennypincher who keeps negotiating even if the difference between the offer and demand is 100 000 euro.If Marotta is like this, don't expect him to splash money. He'll try to negotiate even if the difference between what we offer and Atletico wants is 2-3 millions.

Everybody can shit the shit off right this second.

We had Alessio Secco spending obscene amounts of money on a whole rake of shite and now you lot are complaining about pennypinching!?The man is actively trying to atone for his mistakes and all he get's is BS knocking

You pay what it's worth and not a penny more, I understand we all want aguero but I can guarantee that it won't come down to 1,000,000 or even 3,000,000

He might have a point, if Licht's transfer is concerned, because the initial news was that we signed him for 9.8m eur, which was a really strange figure. Then the official site wrote that we signed him for a round number (10m eur), but that 9.8m figure makes me think that Pastorello is right and Marotta was really negotiating with 100k's :D

lol

How can we do that today with no meeting?
I didn't mean literally but it's obvious that Aguero already 'knows' his destination but he will reveal it after the Copa which only implies that there's a concrete offer already. If we don't polish the deal with Atletico these days he's gone, City will probably take him. So I don't believe what papers really say now. Maybe he won't fly to Spain but I don't think it means we can't finalize the deal.

It is stupid to do that, you know why? Because you will lose the player for some small amount of money. Imagine if we lost Lich because of 100k euros if some other team joined the race. It will be unbeliveably stupid to lose Aguero if it comes to a couple of millions because you can't buy stars like that. Atletico can only say 'wtf is that, you see the door? Good, now go there' because we wanted to save 1 million and they have City's Sheik waiting outside the office.

Yes, Secco wasted many millions, but so did Marotta. 24mln for Martinez and Pepe, 15 for Bonucci.

Hence the :sergio:

If he starts that bullshit with Atletico, they'll send his back emptyhanded home. He better not fuck this up.

I'm sure Marotta knows this transfer is a bit different and I also don't think he would've walked away had Lotito refused to let us have ~100k or whatever the amount was. Let's just calm down, for crying out loud.

Lichtsteiner was as good as gone anyway, he made his mind up about Juve and Marotta had good cards.

It also doesn't make sense to call him wrong for trying to get good deals on one hand, and on the other talk about how he overpaid for other players.

The difference between 30 and 45 is not the same as 100k. I know Marrota wasted money but you can't have it both ways, he scrimps we complain, he splurges on poo we complain. What he's doing is a thing called negotiation, a common piece on which involves using trival ammounts on money relative to the overall price in order to lower the overall price. Bear in mind that firstly, he may apraoch this deal differently to Licht, secondly that a the difference at this stage might really be 2 million already and thirdly that nobody but the two partis knows what the redline figures are.

We're using rampant specualtion to discredit Marotta, we have to try to be patient and only listen to sources that are actualy reliable. If we sign Aguero after all this I hope all the eye jokes stop and everybody goes to Marottas tread and professes their love for him. Because if our crap team signs Kun, it'll be a fucking miracle and it won't be for lack of trying

Definitely.
He wouldn't have been in the job if he's not smart and if he's really a pennypincher. I just hope he knows that there is time and place for everything and he won't take a gamble if he's not sure that there is ground for that. Aguero's transfer is a different case than any transfer he conducted in his life, so he'll need to play it safe here.

Because it's rather silly that he overpays for Martinez, Bonucci, Pepe and Motta but he wants to save 100k on Lich and some millions on a great player such as Aguero. And no, I'm not saying it's a difference between 30 and 45mln, because it's not like that.

yep, summer 2010... People learn from their mistakes, you know. You can joke and laugh all you want about his unsuccessful deals last summer or his eye or stuff like that, but the fact is, like it or not, this summer so far he`s been very good, and that`s all you can say at the moment, till august 31 there is such a long time and anything can happen. It`s good to be critical, it`s even better from time to time to give somebody some credit when he deserves it, that means you`re being objective, not just a stubborn know-it-all who likes to spend his time spitting and mocking at others.
