i can perfectly see him slot in seemlessly for vucinic. from what i remember by seeing him play from time to time giovinco will be a smaller version of vucinic. giovinco has a higher work ethic and let's not kid ourselves, he can't be less prolific than vucinic. even though mirko scored a few times at the end of the season, he still did fluff many chances which giovinco probably had buried.

While this is also a con against strong and tall defenders, he will earn a lot of freekicks for us that way. Because small and quick footed annoyances like him are better on the floor than letting him withtheball doing tricks.

I have seen him dribble past players out of the blue like nobodys business.

no hes a provincial player because only a provincial side was interested in his services, for good measure too. Coaches and scouts all agree on that designation. On the other hand, Mirko plays for the itlaian champions, and he was a big part of making that happen. To say that the midget is better is what is really ridiculoous here.

The kid is perfect fit starting for midtable teams, where there isn't that much pressure compared to teams like Juventus. At Juventus he would be a great option off the bench, so don't expect him to be the savoir an. I wouldn't build my hopes around Giovinco, this team needs world class players to compete for CL next year, Giovinco is not a world class player, and he doesn't have the potential to be one.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on the first part. There is no way of knowing whether or not Giovinco would have folded under the pressure. There really isn't much of a sample size to go off of during his time with Juve. He had splendid moments, and he had disappointing moments, which is par for the course for any player where one of his primary attributes are a flair for the dramatic.

Whether or not he is a provinical player or not has yet to be seen, but one could argue that he and Vucinic have almost, and I state almost, followed the same path.

Vucinic was all-world during his formative years at Lecce, whereas during his time at Roma he scored a goal once every 3.5 games, give or take. Yes, a bigger club than parma could ever hope to be, but also taken into consideration that he had Totti who was still at or near the top of his game during those years, whereas Giovinco last year had Janet for half a season, and not much better than that this year.

Also, Giovinco's primary role is not that of a goal scorer. He was never projected to be an 18-20 goal scorer. He was projected to be a facilitator, and score any where from 10-12 goals per season. A mini-Vucinic, one would say.

Although I am very neutral on this whole Giovinco situation, it is evident that his accomplishments at Parma are to be lauded, regardless. How that translates to a bigger club, with a role that does not mandate that he be the focal point of the attack, remains to be seen.

It was the worst possible moment in Giovinco's carrer to concede his contract share.

Truth. And IMO he should redeem this stupid mistake and give the guy a go. At least i know that conte is not out of his mind like marotta, and he rates the midget fondly.

Mirko was a huge reason we got the Scudetto. Absolutely. However, I think your comments about Giovinco are a bit premature, man.

We won't know much about how he performs under pressure until he's playing meaningful games for a top club. Last meaningful game I remember him playing for us was against Chelsea - and he was pretty good in that one. In fairness, he was also quite good down the stretch for Parma, as it became apparent that they had a crack at Europe - so that bodes in his favor as well. I thought he might fade after his good start, and as the season wore on - just because of his lack of physicality - but he looks like he's made pretty decent gains in his strength and conditioning since he was with us.

As for the part about ranking his prospect behind Miccoli, at least from the vantage of stats, Giovinco's numbers were better at age 25. He's also coming off a lot of discontinuity as well, so I don't think that projecting his career is a particularly easy task at this point.

I feel like it could still go either way, but provided things don't get stupid with Parma, I think he could be very useful.
