While many players always get attacked for obvious reason and some time for no reason just for the case criticizing. Some how this kid always don't get as much heat even though he has been a huge disappointment. He gets knocked off the ball very easily, his passes are nothing special, doesn't track back to help in defence which leave our back line exposed badly. I do think he is way overrated by most of our fans, and I don't see anything special about him. He is a good player, but has no potential what so ever to be a super star or world beater. And please let's stop comparing him to Del piero, because at 22 Alex was one of the best in the world at his position, a reaoson why the great R. Baggio wasn't needed any more, and won us many titles. Gio is just very inconsistent and will play excellent for 20-30 min in a match then disappear for the rest of the match and the next 5 matches. there are many youngsters I'll pick ahead of him. The only young player we have that is definitly going to be a world class is Marchisio
I know Ahmed, but giovinco is getting praise for no reason, I haven't seen him yet overtake a match. On the other hand Marchisio is just out of this world and arguably only De rossi and pirlo are better Italian midfielders than him. Also as a wide out player he is not as effective running at defenders as he should be. When running at the opponets he tend to go way wide and put himself in very tight situations and end up being crowded by 2 or 3 players. He needs to be more effective by cutting in or out very fast and don't give the chance for opponents to crowd him.
Now Marchisio is being overrated, so what's the point?

He's a great young midfielder with all around good skills but he doesn't possess world class talent at this stage.

Andy, but Marchisio played many excellent game and was able to control the Midfield in important matches. How he is over rated by saying the only Italian Midfielders better than him are De rossi and Pirlo? Even Marchisio wasn't a sticky, until I mentioned it las month and they made it into one, while gio, and legro has one. When the argument about future stars in football juve fans will always mention gio as a candidate, and won;t even talk about marchisio. just because gio was able to skin a couple of players doesn't mean anything.

He is NOT superb all around, as that would make him a world beater like ESSIEN who has all sorts of ability in different areas of the game, world class ability, which Marchisio does not come close to having, nor ever will. Our player is good all around, but nowhere NEAR world class in any aspect of the game. That does not constitute world class.
If Seba is overrated here, so is Marchisio, 100%, without a doubt.

For his age, Marchiso is getting there. He is so calm even at the most intense moments. Good passer, great shot, has an eye for the goal by coming from behind. If the coaches let advance more we will be able to see how dangerous he can be. i can't wait until we get Melo, sissoko, and marchisio on the pitch at the same time, because it's going to be fire works

Bolded < I knew it somebody was going to mention that 20 min he played against chelsea and how he skinned both Ashly cole and boswinga. But if you don't remeber very well, in that match marhisio outshined all of the chelsea midfield, he had no problem playing against ballack and lampard, and gave them a good run for their money. he was very calm and decisive. In 10 years when gio is still the ok player he is and will be, somebody will come and tell me, yeah but don't you remember 11 years ago when he did this and that against chelsea. since that match Gio has just been the average inconsistent player and only was able to shine in few minutes, while marchisio had many MOM performances

Aquilani was supposed to be a world class player, but unfortunately things didn't work out for him. He had the potential, but after all those injury I doubt it he will ever reach what he was supossed to do. I disagree totally regarding D'Agostino, who is a pirlo wanna be. Defensively Marhsio is slightly better than him. Offensively D'Ago is better specially distributing passes, this is not because Marchisio is not good enough, but because we don't need to run our offense through Marchisio if we have Diego, Camo, and Alex doing the job.
