He created a number of chances for the others :

Empoli are kicking themselves after wasting countless chances and hitting the woodwork twice, allowing Genoa to snatch a last-gasp draw.

The Tuscans were on Cloud Nine after their 4-1 demolition of relegation rivals Cagliari last week, Nicola Pozzi getting all the goals. This was another six-pointer, as after a good start Genoa were sliding back down the standings and without a win since early October, putting plenty of pressure on Gian Piero Gasperini's shoulders. The 3-1 home loss to Siena was particularly painful and made the axe a very real possibility.

Empoli hit the woodwork just 130 seconds in, as Pozzi got a touch to Sebastien Giovinco's cross from the left and it bounced on to the base of the far post.

Antonio Busce' nodded another Giovinco cross over and Empoli were pouring forward in waves. On the half-hour mark they had two fantastic opportunities to open the scoring in the space of 10 seconds. First Francesco Pratali's snapshot from 20 metres cracked against the upright, then Pozzi's follow-up was flapped right off the line by backtracking goalkeeper Rubinho.

Under-21 sensation Giovinco gave Empoli a deserved lead, but Genoa's defending was chaotic. Masiello failed to clear the ball effectively and Giovinco pounced to smash his shot under the bar.

Julio Cesar Leon came off the bench and within seconds forced a save out of Daniele Balli, but Giuseppe Sculli made a hash of latching on to the rebound.

Ivan Juric had penalty appeals waved away for a Lino Marzoratti challenge in the box. Giovinco was unlucky as he fell and accidentally clattered face-first into an opponent's shinpad.

Pozzi was tearing his hair out after a desperate Cesare Bovo intervention stopped him tapping in Giovinco's inspired assist. Giovinco picked up an injury and was stretchered off.

Having done precious little throughout the match, Genoa grabbed a late equaliser in the final minutes. Lucho Figueroa flicked on the ball for Masiello to nutmeg Balli from six yards.

Since the coaching change giovinco has been playing more and empoli has been winning more. I'm just glad this coach is starting giovinco more, the last one must have been retarded not to start him.

Giovinco look set to become a legend. All he needs now is expert treatment and career counselling over the next 6 months. The sort he would undoubtedly receive at Arsenal and Barcelona.

Everytime I have seen Giovinco play I have been impressed. I think that it would be wisely if he were to be loan out for one more year. He would gain more experience by playing often. But he certainly has a bright future ahead and is Del Piero's heir (not necessarily as a Supporting Striker, but as a Juventus ICON)

I was just thinking of which number would Juve give Giovinco if he were to play with us next year. I personally would like to see him get #7 many great captains or world class players use that number; Sheva, C. Ronaldo, Raul, Figo, David Villa, and Ribery

Juve to call back Giovinco? Monday 17 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus are looking increasingly likely to try and bring Sebastian Giovinco back from Empoli in exchange for Sergio Almiron.

Claudio Ranieri sent talented 20-year-old Giovinco to the Stadio Castellani for a season to grow as a player and he has impressed in the Tuscan side.

However, the man who went the other way in the summer hasn’t had such a good time in his new surroundings.

Argentine midfielder Almiron is at the bottom of Juve’s midfield pecking order and has even fallen behind the unsettled Tiago Mendes.

Whispers are intensifying that Ranieri may reverse his summer switch and try to cement the early return of Giovinco.

The Azzurrini starlet has indicated that he is happy with Empoli, but he would undoubtedly welcome the call back to base.

It is believed that Almiron may be less willing to take a step backwards, despite his lack of playing time in Turin, but he may be given little option.
