While Red fiddles with the poll...

So, how often is it in modern football that a club actually loans a player out their own product for years, then lets a club buy half of his past value, while his value appreciates then tries to negotiate with that club for a fee to buy the players part-ownership back at a much higher value than what it was originally half bought for?
....?
Not very often, but the latest was return of Reus to Dortmund for 17 something million.

Madrid do it all the time, just in a different format. They sell them and insert clauses so they have first option to buy them back, for a fee larger than what they sold.

I bought a pack of chewing gum for .50 cents, thought I didn't need it so sold half of the gum to a friend for .25 cents. Hours later I realized I didn't have enough to make it through the day so I bargained with my friend to buy the other half back...we negotiated a deal worth .75 cents for the half he had...costing me a total of a 1.25 for the gum that cost me originally .50 cents.
To be more accurate you'd receive better gum than what you'd originally sold, which is why you'd pay more. If Giovinco went to Parma and did nothing in his spell there, we wouldn't pay more than the €3m we sold him for. In fact we would not take the option up. He's a better player now, which is why he is worth more. That's the basis of co-ownership deals.

That saves him the trouble of buying a periscope.

reminds me of a story my dad told me. we was working one day and seen this car coming down the hill,it was rolling slowly along but didn't appear to have a driver..he was just starting to get nervous that is was going to career downhill when it unexpectedly pulled in and Ronnie Corbett jumped out

I'd say he was always that good....they just provided playing time

Sebastian Giovinco has slammed the door on a potential January return to Juventus. “One thing is certain: I’m staying at Parma.”

The player is still co-owned by the two clubs and is expected to come back to Turin at the end of the season, but some have suggested an immediate switch.

“Do Juventus want me back right away? One thing is certain: I’m staying at Parma,” Giovinco told Mediaset Premium.

“I chose this club because from the start they showed the most concrete interest in me.”

The Atomic Ant has made no secret of his frustration with the Bianconeri and their refusal to give him much playing time.

“I can only speak well of the Juve fans, as they are the only ones who always supported me and tried to stop me leaving.

“I could’ve learned so much by playing for Juventus alongside champions like Alex Del Piero, but I wasn’t given the chance. They chose another path and now I hope to go along it as far as possible.

“I scored my first Serie A brace against Juventus, so I’m not bothered about facing them. I want to do well against anyone.”

The Italian international also commented on the problems he faced while growing up with a Leo Messi-like stature.

“My height was a regular subject and also the thing that hurt me the most. Over the years, though, I learned to not care and just continue along my path.”
