Everytime I see this guy play as a trequartista I get more and more convinced that he should be a winger. He is not good enough to play behind the strikers. The problem is that he tries to challenge big CM's and DM's and he is just too small for that. On the wing there is more space and less players so he could do his magic.

He was so magical and special every time he played on the flanks last season but as a trequartista he looks kind of lost out there.

What worries me is not that he is too small, rather that till now he hasn't showed the characteristics of a "playmaker attacking midfielder". If you remember Nedved during his first years (with Lippi), Zidane, Del Piero when he plays abit lower down the field, or Totti with Roma, such a player passes the ball more and have much more creative ideas and a vision of how the attack should be. More over these players ARE ALWAYS available for their team mates to receive a pass. Even when Del Piero plays as a supporting striker he always gets closer to whoever has the ball to receive pass.

IMO, it's not mainly due to lacks the vision. Because he can't control and protect the ball due to his physic. He is not a true "trequartista". Against a heavy defense, he can either run with the ball or pass it so quickly that he doesn't even have time to observe well the pitch to distribute the ball well. Neither can he control the tempo dut to the same reason.

I think he must play on the wing....he had same phisycal ability as Theo Walcott..Theo begin his career as strike, but Wenger begin to play him on RM/RW positioon and now Theo is on of the best on that positions!!!

Agree 100%, I even said this last year when he played behind the strikers. He gets bullied too easily, he should play on the wing in 4-2-3-1. All 3 games in preseason so fat he played he disappointed and was no where close to last year's level.

I say we should give him more time. He played as AML last year and was quite productive but was poor in the few instances he played as SS. He needs more time and experience to get suited to the new position but I am sure he can succeed.

i think he needs time to settle, he keeps getting swapped around with positions. he needs one and he has to stick to it, give him time.
