Sorry boys, I posted this in the Toro thread, but I'm reposting it here due to the discussion...

"Keep the faith Marcello, keep the faith. The lad is playing out of position, and has been afforded zero continuity this season. We need to get him a little more forward on the pitch, and lend him some support. He's not built to be an engine, and lug the ball up the field, or to offer support to the defence.

We need that creative spark up front (I always liked him on the left of the 4-3-3, as he often plays with the Azzurini), or directly behind the strikers."

There was a time where I thought he'd be able to replace Del Piero or Nedved (in their prime). He might not become a superstar, but he has everything needed to be a very good player for us.

I'll keep the faith,I'm just starting to doubt whether he is able to shine for a team like Juventus.

I saw pretty much every Azzurrini match and saw what he can do in a 4-3-3,we don't look likely to play that system though.Even if we do,we're currently looking for a Nedved replacement(Silva?) which shows that Ranieri doesn't plan with Giovinco as Nedved's successor.Where does he fit in?I have no clue because I don't see him as a supporting striker.

So how can you pass judgement then?.
I'm just judging him by the minutes he played this season,of course. Are there other possibilities?

You're absolutely right; because Ranieri is so rigid with his system, it's extremely difficult/impossible to predict how Seba's development will progress. I think he could play in that support striker role, but I'm not sure this coach will ever give us an opportunity to know for sure. I believe in his talent though; once we get our defense in order this offseason, hopefully we can release the hounds up front.

BTW, and a bit off topic, I've been impressed by Ariaudo this season in his limited performances. Criscito was also pretty decent today. I only saw the second half, and while I didn't see any great crosses, Criscito's ball control and passing are pretty solid... and he was defensively responsible.

As Mr. Petty said, "the waiting is the hardest part." Hopefully we see our team considerably strengthened this offseason, through a couple major signings (Creative Mid, RB) and some solid development from all of our youngsters.

Very few players in the world could look really good as the only creative player in the team the way they are playing just now.

Asking him to be the sole link between the seven defenders and the two forwards is too much for him right now.

Absolutely right, Red. It doesn't help when that sole creative player is 5'4" and something like 140 LBS, either. Anyways, I liked the effort Seba was putting in, even if he was getting knocked around quite a bit.

This team needs work, and we all know it; at least we got the 3 points today, and some of our players who haven't played much/at all this year, were able to get some minutes - that's the positive spin.

He played much better when Del Piero was on the pitch. He will be at his best in a team that plays possession and attacking football, where his teamates are also quite technical. He is talented but obviously limited. I don't see him with a future in Juve as long as Ranieri is our coach or better yet as long as we keep playing the same style of football since Capello.

Is Giovinco another Chiumiento?

Please discuss.
Dont think so, but CR is trying hard to make a Chiumento out of him:shifty:

I have to agree that the latest games Gio participated are not that bright,
we have seen better things from him. nut he needs to get more playing to make any relative conclusions. I m sad it has gone this way for him and even worse for DC... I see us off loading (loaning) one of these two at the summer...

cron..we cannot have a squad with young players..and with the old guard players...and with the players that we bought between serie b and now...and the players that we are going to buy in the summer...it is hard to give DC...but it is better for them to get some play time..and about giovinco, even now i don't know what is his position from ranieri's point of view..anyway...if we bring cassano and neddy's replacement, it's obvious that gio will see another season like this one.

You cant have all of your youngsters shine, and i`m very happy with marchisio`s progress, love the kid, love the way he plays his heart out. But i too feel sad for Giovinco, he has the talent, its just that the current conditions at the club arent favoring to him, and this is mainly due our coach. And for DC, he is good, but i personaly dont rate him very highly.
