That could have something to do with the fact that all of our central midfielders are injured and that Giovinco was at the Olympics.

He also fits right into a 4-4-2 and doesn't have to compete with Del Piero for a spot.

So if this game wasn't the game for him, when is? When can we get a "less pressurised" game than this? If he doesn't want to send the wrong message to the team, then DP can never rest? Look, if something happens to DP now, the team will suffer because they wouldn't know how to do jack shit without him.

Maybe Giovinco will come in then, but don't you think it would be better if Giovinco gets more playing time to keep match fit, keep morale (Ranieri seems to care about Marchionni's morale a lot), get integrated into the side and have someone who is more readily available to replace DP should he get burned out or injured becuase of his tender, young body.

I lean towards thinking that Ranieri sees Giovinco as our new Zalayeta ie our 5:th choice striker. LM is for Nedved, De Ceglie and Salihamidzic.

Gio is clearly not playing as much for the following reasons:

1- ranieri is convinced that nedved and DP can play 90 minutes for all matches of the season.

2- Ranieri does not know how to fit Gio's ability to the team's system.

IMO nedved and DP should have been rested yesterday for De Ceglie and Gio.

he must understand that you cannot bring in dc and sali and keep gio for the rest of the season with 10 minutes played . if the coach goes..the kid will play... i want to know your opinion about the reasons behind ranieri's not using gio (except he is an idiot..moron...etc). maybe it can be a board decision?
