Part of the reason why Gio is doing so well is of course because it's the MLS, but this is also definitely a different Giovinco. Not the same Gio from before but clearly an improved player playing on a diff level.

Yeah, once. Came on as a sub in both games and looked dangerous. Don't really get his snub...esp when friggin Borini was picked.
I'm not Giovinco's biggest fan, but give the horrible set of strikers Italy has at the moment, it does seem a bit harsh not calling him up.

Pretty sure the best player in the MLS could be useful to beat a team like Ireland. Italians are stubborn - always sacrifice talent for security. Conte is the worst though...his attackers are just support for the midfield.

it would not have hurst to bring gio definitely. at lest he can be more damagin than eder whn on his day
Conte needs to realize that not every team is Germany. Sure maybe Giovinco would be more ineffective against the Germans, but he would have been very useful against Costa Rica when we needed creative brilliance and couldn't score. Fact is, a chunk of the Costa Rican team plays in the MLS.

He already has Insigne plus other SS players to choose from, Giovinco could have stayed or gone and it was no big call.
Yes and Conte could easily have opted to say "I think Giovinco had a great season in the MLS, but there are many talented players who cover the same role and I opted to go with someone else".

Instead he had to make it personal and vicious.

Conte isn't the most affable person on the planet. I suppose Giovinco's history of being a bit of a whiner was also part of the decision, he needs people who will work hard, shut up and possibly get ready to make a difference if needed. I'm not sure Giovinco falls into that category.

But yeah, what he said about the MLS was unnecessary, even if he felt that way (I agree, having watched some games recently) he has a duty to be more professional.

Everyone would agree. MLS would be lower league level in Belgium, perhaps 2nd division, but more likely 3d. And that's Belgium. So obviously it's not going to compare to Serie A.
