Craig Brown to retire at the end of the season: http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20130314/craig-brown-to-retire-_2212158_3108670

Would rather Aberdeen had just told him to fuck off, but the important thing is that there is confirmation he won't be in charge next season.

Does amuse me that it's being presented as being his choice to not be in charge next season. There was never any prospect of him being given a new contract by the club. It's also only a few days since he was begging to be give more time, which rather suggests he didn't have his heart set on retirement.

Decision was made during a meeting with the chairman on Monday night. I suspect it was suggested to him that he might like to retire in order to become a director, rather than him announcing his intention to retire and then being offered a new position, as he would have people believe.

First approach to County for permission to speak to Adams has been rejected.

Not surprised.

I am, however, suprised that Aberdeen would bother to make the approach while the season is on going and County still have something to play for.

However, the mere fact that an approach was made would suggest Adams is interested in taking the job. I doubt Aberdeen have made the approach without quietly getting in touch with Adams through a third part to ensure they aren't wasting their time in taking to County.

Didn't particularly impress me at St. Johnstone and all he has done since then is fail in England.

No idea why the club are in such a rush to make an appointment.

Have to think the approach to County for Adams was merely fan appeasement - as County were always going to reject the approach at this time - before making what is not going to be a popular appointment.

I won't be getting a season ticket next season, and I imagine sales could be disastrously low.

He built a good team at St. Johnstone winning promotion (something Coyle didn't manage), making several good cup runs and basically getting them into Europe on a small budget.

At Bristol he took over a team in the relegation spots and kept them up. I expected him to do better this year but I don't think he had much money.

Just don't expect a lot of goals and I guess the fact he is Rangers man won't be popular with your fans.

The Hun aspect is bothering a lot of folk. It'll bother me in due course, but I'm still focused on not being impressed by his managerial ability.

My issue is that I see him as a coach (like Craig Brown) who just wants to keep things tight at the back and who waits/hopes for goals to happen.

I wanted a coach who actually shows signs of having a plan of how to work the ball around and create chances.

I don't care what those plans are - buy a 7ft taget man and play long ball if it works.

Just don't see it happening and fairly bored of hearing these stories.

Even if everything else fell into place, I could see the English police having major objections to it.
