He has had more consistent season, but he is 3 years older and defenitely less talented.

He's also had like 3 more full Serie A seasons under his belt, you'd hope he'd be more adjusted to the league.
Don't really think its possible to compare, Tonali is playing for a team that gets ass raped every week and is completely out of its depth in Serie A, all whilst he is still adjusting to the new league

Yup , I know Locatelli is 2year older, but he had great season, way better than Tonali .

To be honest I wasn't impressed by Tonali , I'm not saying I don't want him here , but Zaniolo for example is world class talent .

It's undoubtedly an unpopular opinion but I agree.

I'd take Locatelli and Zaniolo over Tonali any day of the week. We're clearly more focused on Zaniolo and I think rightfully so.

Absolutely. Tonali also played on one of the worst teams in Europe while locatelli played on a very strong sassuolo

My theory is this (two part, so pick one): Rabiot has suddenly emerged as a player that is fulfilling what the club thought his potential was so they didn't need to look at another CM after Arthur. And secondly, they have high hopes Arthur is going to push the entire midfield up another level.

Combine with Verratti's and just make it a rolling thread of missed Italian central midfielders...
Maybe both are right but it is still wrong to miss on such an opportunity
